Chapter 140

After hanging up, Nina didn’t hesitate for a second. She swept her hand decisively and called out, “Let’s go nab

that thief?!”

Hot on her heels, a brigade of stray cats assembled “Thief Catching Crew.” Like a fluffy, silent army, the squad streamed across the campus, determined and unnoticed.

Near the student dorms, a calico cat leaped lightly onto the wall and discreetly pointed her paw at a spot up ahead. “Nina, that’s him!”

Sure enough, a guy with glasses was lurking by the takeout rack, grabbing two bags and slipping quietly into the woods beside the dorms.

Nina’s eyes narrowed as she called out, “Squirrel Bros, up the trees. Keep an eye on him! Tabby Squad, circle from both sides!”

In a heartbeat, the squirrels dashed up the branches. The stray cats spread out and moved in perfect sync, forming a furry blockade that blocked the guy’s way before he’d even realized what was happening.

The guy’s expression turned ugly when he realized a bunch of cats actually dared to block his way. Furious. and embarrassed, he swung his leg, aiming to kick the nearest black cat.

But Nina reacted instantly. Without thinking, she grabbed a branch lying at her feet and landed a solid whack right on his calf. The crack echoed through the silence.

The guy yelped in pain, but before he could even react, Nina was already brandishing her badge, her eyes sharp as a blade.

She snapped, “Freeze! Not satisfied with stealing, huh? Now you want to add animal cruelty to your rap sheet?”

Her voice rang out, crisp and confident. Behind her, the Tabby Squad all puffed up proudly, looking like they knew they had their boss backing them up.

Nina pulled a pair of handcuffs from her bag, motioned for the guy to put his hands out, and snapped them on with practiced ease.

Tabby King leaped lightly onto her shoulder, raised his paw, and landed a few fierce cat punches on the guy.

“Think you can bully my crew? You must be tired of living!” Tabby King scoffed.

As the handcuffs snapped shut, a rush of joy bubbled up in Nina’s chest.

She thought, ‘I got this one all by myself!’

Even with Simon gone, she could totally hold her own!

Nina crouched down, her eyes sparkling as she told the stray cats with genuine warmth, “Seriously, thank you guys. This was my first time nabbing a suspect all by myself, and I couldn’t have done it without your help!”

The cats instantly started meowing up a storm in response.

“No need to thank us, Nina! That whack you gave him was totally epic!” one teased proudly.

“Nina, you’re awesome!” another chimed in, tail flicking.

“We’ll always be your Tabby Squad, forever!” purred a third, loyalty shining in their eyes.

Nina was showered by a chorus of adorable meows, her smile twitching bigger with every sound.

She was dangerously close to just melting into all that fuzzy flattery.

Nina marched the food thief out of the woods, swinging by to put the two takeout bags back on the rack outside the dorms.

Just then, two students were anxiously searching nearby. Nina walked over and asked, “Hey, you guys looking for these?”

The students turned around, and when they saw their food, their eyes lit up, and they nodded enthusiastically.

“Yes, those are ours! Thank you so much!” they exclaimed.

Only then did they notice the guy in handcuffs behind Nina, and they instantly got all fired up.

“Is that the food thief? Did you actually catch him?” one of them blurted out, eyes wide with excitement.

“Thank you so much! This guy’s been stealing for ages!” the other chimed in, practically bouncing with relief.

Their excited shouts caught the attention of the nearby students, who started crowding around, everyone talking over each other.

“Whoa, are you actually a cop? Did the school really send an officer just to catch the delivery thief?” one of the students asked.

“Dude, that guy only snatches expensive orders! I heard he’s stolen like a thousand dollars’ worth already. They can totally press charges now. About time karma hit him!” someone else added, sounding satisfied.

“Seriously, thank you! We’ve finally gotten rid of this menace!” a third student said, almost jumping for joy.

Nina grinned and pointed behind her, showing off the stray cats all lined up in a row like little guardians, sitting proudly.

“I may have caught him, but the real heroes are your honorary ‘cat seniors’ over here!” she said playfully, nodding toward the cats.

She crouched down to gently pet the black cat nuzzling at her leg, then added warmly, “They asked me to say a special thanks for all the snacks, and for looking after them when they’re sick or need a little care.”

“They’re grateful for everything you do for them,” Nina continued. “So this time, they came out to help nab the thief and return the favor!”

“Actually, I’m an animal communicator. I can understand cat talk, so I’m just here to pass along their thanks to all of you,” Nina added with a grin.

No sooner had she finished speaking than all the stray cats whipped their tails in perfect unison and let out a chorus of soft, kittenish meows, as if they were all chiming in together to show their appreciation.

The students around couldn’t handle the sheer cuteness. They were all completely moved and started gushing excitedly.

“Oh my god. This is really our campus cats coming through!” one of them exclaimed, eyes sparkling with joy.

“How can anything so fluffy be this adorable? They’re soft and truly gentle!” another student cooed, practically swooning.

“Thank you, campus cats! We’ll definitely keep bringing you treats!” a third student called out, grinning from

ear to ear.

The stray cats could feel everyone’s excitement, each holding their little heads high and their tails sticking straight up, absolutely thrilled.

Just then, a girl stared at Nina for a moment, and then suddenly lit up with excitement. “Wait, you said you’re an animal communicator. Are you Nina?”

Nina smiled and nodded. “Yeah, that’s me.”

The girl practically squealed in excitement, and her friends started gathering around, faces full of admiration.

“It’s really Nina! Thank you so much. We’re totally going to be there at the Forest Isle Zoo open day and cheer you on!”

“Nina, you’re seriously beautiful, kind, and so badass. You’re my new idol!”

Then someone else jumped in, “Nina, you bagged the food thief yourself. You’re officially our Galaxy Guardians! I’m a fan of yours forever!”

Nina blinked, clearly surprised. “Whoa, you guys already know about the zoo open day?”

“Of course!” one student said, practically bursting with enthusiasm as they waved their phone. “The publicity department posted about it everywhere. My entire feed is full of it now!”

“Those animals look ridiculously cute!” another added, nearly squealing.

“Word is they’re even helping the cops crack some cases? Gotta see that with my own eyes!” chimed in a third.

Nina was genuinely surprised at how enthusiastic those three girls had been about promoting her event. Flashing a bright smile, she said, “Everyone’s invited. Come join us! Trust me, I’ve got some special surprises lined up just for you.”

Meanwhile, the food thief found himself surrounded and put on public trial by the crowd, every eye fixed on him. He didn’t dare to twitch. His face was boiled tomato red, his head hung so low it almost disappeared.
