Chapter 176 The Thief
Chapter 176 The Thief
“Shadow!” Quentin shouted.
Even though he was down on the ground, he kept his arm protectively around Nina, his voice steady and authoritative.
As soon as he gave the order, it was like flipping a switch.
The wolfdog, poised just a few steps away, shot forward like an arrow, its gray body bursting into motion with a rush of
wind.
With perfect precision, it bit down on the thief’s pant leg, its powerful momentum knocking the guy down a second time!
Shadow pushed its front paws down hard into the thief’s back, rumbling a deep, menacing growl from its throat that made the thief completely freeze.
After witnessing that epic scene, the tourists around couldn’t help but whip out their phones.
“Oh my god! Officer Snow Leopard and Officer Cat just nabbed a thief with a police dog!”
“No way any TV show would dare script something this crazy!”
“That alone was worth the price of admission today!”
“Seriously, who’s playing the Officer Snow Leopard? He’s insanely handsome!”
“They totally just hugged! This is too sweet-I’m dying over here!”
Nina’s ears were burning from all the teasing, but Quentin stayed completely unfazed. He casually helped her to her feet with one hand and even brushed some grass off her hair.
Shadow watched Quentin carefully steady Nina, its tail spinning like a propeller, absolutely thrilled. “Look! They hugged for real!”
Shadow’s drool kept dripping everywhere, and one of its paws was pounding away in pure excitement-landing squarely on the thief’s chest.
The masked guy was getting drenched and pummeled by Shadow’s enthusiastic love stomps. His eyes rolled back in comic agony as he struggled to catch his breath, gasping for help. “Help me.
“Stop shipping them already. Will anyone please pay attention to me? Hey, thieves need help, too.”

Just then, at the entrance to the zoo, someone in the crowd suddenly shouted. “Oh no! My phone’s gone!”
A woman panicked as she dug through her backpack. “It was just in my pocket! Someone must’ve stolen it!”
The crowd instantly erupted into noisy complaints.
“What kind of security even is this?”
“For real? There are cops literally standing right there, and people are still getting robbed?”
The cops doing crowd control tried to explain, “Everyone, chill out, we’re already chasing down the thief.”
Some young dude complained, “Is ‘we’re investigating’ the only line you know? Don’t you ever do anything else?”
“Ugh, it’s the same old speech every time! So lame!” another lady couldn’t help but butt in, sounding fed up.
Another woman joined in the complaining, too.
Just as things were starting to get heated, Nina’s clear voice rang out from nearby. “Hey guys, chill. We’ve already nabbed the thief!”
Everyone whipped around, spotting Quentin marching over, practically dragging the masked dude behind him.
A moment later, four undercover cops converged from all sides, hauling in a few of the thief’s buddies-each waving the freshly snatched loot they’d just gotten back.
The real scene-stealers were the flock of little parrots bustling along beside the cops, flapping their wings and chattering nonstop as they proudly showed off, eager for everyone to notice their good deed.
“We did it! We did it!”
“Bad guys-No escape for you!”
The crowd went dead silent for a heartbeat, th Successfully unlocked! cheers.
The guy who’d been complaining scratched his eau nemanament, wille the lady beside him grinned from ear to ear and clapped.

“This is awesome! We haven’t even gone inside, and we’ve already watched a police movie live!” she said.
“These parrots are absolute legends!”
“Best ticket ever! I didn’t know admission came with a bonus live detective show!”
Everyone in line whipped out their phones, and the tense vibe was instantly replaced by excited chatter.
Two cops stared at the lineup of suspects being hauled out, jaws practically hitting the floor. “We’ve been tailing this roving gang for a whole month, and they just got wiped out in one go?”
One of the undercover cops grinned and slapped his partner on the shoulder. “Forest Isle Zoo-Home of Animal Detectives -really lives up to the name!”
The rookie officer’s eyes lit up as he lowered his voice and whispered, “Boss, how about we set up a post here from now on? With this kind of case-closing speed, we’d be a shoo-in for top marks on our year-end review!”
The entire wild spectacle was livestreamed by the media, catching every moment as it happened.
Hashtags like [Forest Isle Zoo Animal Detectives] and [Solved A Crime Before Even Entering] started blowing up online, and the open day event instantly became the hottest thing around.
Nina watched as the thieves were hauled off to the police cars one after another, finally letting out a sigh of relief.
Quentin glanced over, noticing her cheeks still flushed from running. “So now, hosting guests comes with a side of arrest duty, huh?”
He leaned in a little, lowering his voice. “Next time, my fee’s going up-double.”
Nina grinned, looking every bit the sly little fox, and quickly played along. “No problem! If there’s another job this fun, I’ll definitely call you in again!”
Quentin, half exasperated and half amused by how she just kept rolling with it, shook his head. “You’re unbelievable. I nearly picked up a work injury today, you know.”
At that, Nina’s mind leapt back to when Quentin had shielded her from those giraffe legs. Cheeks burning, she joked, “For saving me like a hero, tonight you totally get a bonus!”

In Oakridge, at the national agricultural research base, Charles’s sleek black Mercedes-Benz pulled up smoothly before the imposing gates.
He circled around and gently supported Claire as she got out of the car.
Charles looked out over the neatly laid-out test fields and research buildings, his tone serious. “At this point, if we want to survive, we have to strike a partnership with this top national research base and get our new premium dog food on the map.
“It’s the only way Summer Group business can hold things together.”
He glanced at Claire, his eyes filled with hope. “Claire, everything depends on you today.”
Claire steadied herself against the car door, forcing a confident smile even though her face was still pale. “Dad, it’s gonna be fine. Trust me.
“My mentor said Ms. Coleman really went over my proposal, and even jotted down a ton of comments. She’s definitely taking this seriously.”
Charles took a deep breath, straightened his suit, and stepped up to the security booth, handing over his business card. Could you please inform them that I’m Charles, Chairman of the Summer Group?
