Chapter 182 Simon Starts Work

Chapter 182 Simon Starts Work

With a loud thud, Nora’s dad suddenly sat up on the stretcher and nimbly hopped off.

“I-I suddenly feel much better! Maybe I was just too anxious earlier and felt a bit unwell, but now I’m completely fine!” he exclaimed.

The crowd watching was instantly in an uproar.

“Holy crap! That’s a medical miracle!” someone shouted.

“He recovered faster than the fire truck even got here!” another person joked.

Nora’s parents, faces red with embarrassment, hurriedly pulled their daughter and tried to vanish into the crowd. James tracked their movements, a sly, meaningful smile playing at his lips.

“Still trying to run the old scam? Guess your performance is busted now!” someone called out.

“Hold up, why’s the CEO of Hayes Group cosplaying Officer Snow Leopard at the zoo? Am I hallucinating?” another voice blurted out.

Quentin paused, shooting James a cool, sideways look.

James, suddenly feeling sheepish, shrank behind Nina.

He’d been so busy showing off for Quentin in front of Ms. Summer that he ended up getting too cocky and letting something slip.

Nina’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Quentin. “Oh my god, Mr. Hayes, you really are a miracle doctor! Just say the word and someone’s healed?”

Quentin pulled out a wet wipe and softly slapped it onto Nina’s face, cutting off her cheeky grin. “Go wash up. Then have the medics check you out.”

Nina peeled away the wet wipe and dutifully scrubbed her messy face.

She turned around and saw rows and rows of white medical tents, each marked with the Hayes Group logo, already set up in perfect order.

After the firefighters finally brought the blaze under control, the zoo staff began to file out, one after another.

The medical team from Hayes Hospital carefully escorted the exhausted staff toward the tents, checking over these heroes who’d battled the fire and tending to their wounds.

Other workers hurried about, offering warm towels, energy drinks, and food to help everyone recover. The whole support operation felt both efficient and genuinely caring.

Nina looked at the scene before her and couldn’t help but feel a gentle warmth in her heart.

She turned to the man beside her and couldn’t help but call out, “Quentin?”

Quentin, now dressed in a crisp white doctor’s coat, turned to look at her.

Nina looked up at him, her expression earnest. “Thank you.”

She felt a little embarrassed. She hadn’t even paid Quentin to be her guest, and now he’d gone and brought an entire medical team along.

Quentin was adjusting his stethoscope, saying in his usual reserved tone, “I just don’t want to see anyone get hurt.”

He paused, then added, “That’s a doctor’s duty.”

With that, Quentin gently tugged Nina by the sleeve and led her to the makeshift examination chair. “Come here, let me give you a checkup.”

Shadow was anxiously spinning in circles nearby. “Nina, hurry up and let Quentin give you a check-up!”

Nina bent down, worried, as she ruffled Shadow’s fur. “Shadow, did you get hurt at all?”

Quentin slipped on his stethoscope and gently pressed the chest piece against her chest.

At her words, he glanced over at Shadow. “If Shadow was hurt, it would’ve flopped down in front of you, pulling the whole’ play cute for sympathy’ act.”

He looked over at Shadow with mock annoyance. “How come you never care if I’m okay?”

Shadow instantly plopped down right at his feet Successfully unlocked! 1, looking totally smug. “Quentin, please, you’re

tough as nails!

“After all those wars, not even a scratch can take you down-you’re not gonna die that easy!”

Quentin took off his stethoscope and immediately caught the look on Nina’s face-she was desperately trying not to burst out laughing. He raised an eyebrow, asking, “What did it say just now?”

Nina hurriedly clamped her lips shut, her eyes looking anywhere but at Quentin. “N-nothing!”

‘If I actually translated that line, Shadow can kiss half its snack stash goodbye!’ Nina thought, feeling sorry for her furry friend.

Quentin gently took Nina’s hand, his touch soft as he tended to the scrapes on her palm.

His lashes dipped low, casting a shadow beneath his eyes; the focused look he wore was worlds away from his usual cold

reserve.

Those eyes, often fierce and intimidating, now seemed much gentler, lips pressed lightly together as he moved with painstaking gentleness.

Nina gazed at Quentin’s profile, so close she could feel the warmth of his fingertips against her skin. Her cheeks heated up before she even realized it.

Just then, Simon shouted, worry lacing his voice, “Nina! Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

Nina glanced up and saw her brother Simon, sharp in his police uniform, striding toward her.

Quentin, meanwhile, was still holding on to her hand, gently putting on the last bandage with focused care.

Nina reflexively tried to pull away, but Quentin’s grip was gentle yet firm. “Hold still, I haven’t finished yet.”

Quentin finally looked up at Simon, calm as ever. “Just a few scrapes and a burn-already taken care of.”

With that, he finished tying off the bandage and let go. “Keep the wound dry for a week.”

Simon stared at Nina’s perfectly wrapped hand, then glanced over at Quentin, who looked totally unfazed. Simon gritted his teeth and squeezed out, “T-thank you, Dr. Hayes.”

Then, he abruptly shoved Nina behind him, switching straight into protective older brother mode-like a wolf hauling its cub -throwing a clear barrier between her and Quentin.
