Chapter 189 Registered Under The Summer Family
Chapter 189 Registered Under The Summer Family
“Me? I’m just a newbie among kestrels. Can I really be the boss?” the kestrel said, shrinking its neck in disbelief.
“Of course, you can,” Nina replied with a mischievous, fox-like grin. “Our AgriTech Center needs a fierce raptor like you to hold down the fort.”
She patiently explained, “You don’t actually have to catch any birds. Just stand at the edge of the fields.
“Your fierce look alone is enough to scare off those little troublemakers trying to steal the crops.
“There’ll be all the fresh fruit and meat you could ever want, and the humans will treat you like their precious pet.
“Those fields will be all yours. You can patrol and soar wherever you want.”
The kestrel’s little eyes grew brighter and brighter, shining like two amber gems. “Could something this good really happen to me?”
But it quickly lowered its head, shrinking down, feeling shy.
“But… what if a bigger, meaner bird comes to bully me?” the kestrel fretted.
Nina smiled and pointed out the window. “If you ever run into trouble, just call out. Everyone at the AgriTech Center will come to help you.”
The more she spoke, the brighter her eyes became. Suddenly, she remembered that the Wildlife Rescue Center took in plenty of injured raptors every year who couldn’t return to the wild.
If they were all relocated to the AgriTech Center, not only would it solve their survival issues, but it’d also give them a bigger world to spread their wings in.
This was practically a custom-made reemployment plan for all those raptor misfits.
Nina said, her voice light and cheerful, “And we’ll bring in even more raptors like you, who aren’t exactly born fighters.
“If you can’t win a one-on-one, we’ll just form a squad. Let’s see who dares to mess with you then.”
The kestrel’s feathers fluffed up in excitement, and it could barely keep itself from taking off right then and there.
‘Could it be that us so-called raptor losers finally get our moment to shine as the boss?’ the kestrel thought, hardly daring to believe it.
“I want to. I want to go right now.” It chirped out loud, sounding like it was swearing a lifelong oath.
Nina quickly reached out and gently pressed down on its eager little head. “Easy there, wait until you’re all healed up. That awesome job will always be waiting for you.”
Nina turned to Crow and winked. “Mr. Crow, it’s your time to shine. Let’s see those connections in action.
“Help me round up those poor raptors who struggle to survive in the wild and always get bullied. Bring them here. It’s all- inclusive: food, a place to stay, and a job.”
Crow perked up, his eyes spinning. “So, what’s my finder’s fee? I want a cut for every bird I bring in.”
Nina couldn’t help but laugh. “Deal. You’ll get your finder’s fee for every single one.”
Before she could finish, Crow shot out the window like a black bolt of lightning, fired up and ready to go.
Watching Crow hustle like that, Nina couldn’t help but think, ‘If he were human, he’d be the office sales legend.’
Dusk was settling in.
Just as Nina finished dinner, Simon rushed into the zoo’s medical center with a few officers. Luke was there too.
Simon said, his voice full of excitement, “Nina, we’ve got some great news.
“We tracked down the senior choir from the park and had them check out the sketch you made of the suspect. “One of the seniors said they for sure saw the person in your drawing heading toward the east gate of the small park.” Finally, they’d got a witness.
One of the officers chimed in, “We’ve pinpointed the black car the suspect was using.
“With help from the traffic police, we’ve tracked its movements.
“The car was last parked in a lot out in the suburbs. We got a clear shot of the license plate, and the traffic team is running the plates as we speak.”
Successfully unlocked!
Simon handed Nina a photo of the suspect’s IL. Let Little Redel bestecognizes this person.”
Nina turned the phone screen toward the kestrel lying on the bed.

The kestrel barely glanced at it before flapping its wings in excitement. “That’s him. He’s the jerk who attacked me.’ the kestrel cried out.
Nina said, “The kestrel confirms it. This is the one.”
“Kason Jordan, 32 years old, currently the owner of a pet supply store,” Simon read from the file.
Nina stared at the face in the photo, suddenly gasping. “Wait… I remember now. I’ve seen him before.
“When I was in middle school, he visited the Summer residence.”
Simon’s head snapped up, shock in his eyes. “You’re sure about that, Nina?”
Nina’s gaze was steady, her voice firm. “I’m certain. I’d never forget.
“I was running laps in the garden as punishment when I saw him slip out the back door.
“He visited more than once, always heading straight for Charles’s study.”
She frowned a little, “Back then, the maid just said he was a guest of the Summer family. Then he just stopped coming around, and I never saw him again.”
Luke’s expression turned serious. “Ms. Nina Summer, do you have any proof that Kason ever visited the Summer residence?” Nina shook her head. This was like eight or nine years back.
“I didn’t even have a phone when I was in middle school, and there’s no way I could’ve known he’d turn out to be an arsonist.” Luke’s voice grew colder. “In that case, don’t go throwing baseless accusations at the Summer family.
“It’s only natural for memories to get fuzzy after all these years.”
He stepped forward, his gaze sharp. “Kason’s just a pet store owner.
“Maybe you’ve got some personal beef with him, or…
“Why do you always have to involve the Summer family in all this? Are you just being overly sensitive?”
Nina met Luke’s skeptical gaze and replied softly, her voice soft but firm, “Luke, you’re so protective of the Summer family. If
I didn’t know better, I’d think you were getting something out of it.”
Luke’s face darkened. “That’s slander.”
Just then, a young officer rushed over, holding a tablet, barely able to contain his excitement.
He said, “Mr. Reed, Luke, we’ve got the registration info for that black car.”
He paused and then announced loudly, “It’s registered under a shell company owned by the Summer family.”
As soon as he said that, the medical center went dead silent.
Luke, who had just been looking at Nina with obvious disapproval, froze, his expression stiffening as his mouth opened and closed in shock. “What?”
An awkward silence hung in the air.
He forced himself to stay calm. “Maybe… he stole the Summer family’s car.”
Just then, Simon’s phone screen lit up.
After a quick scan, he gave Luke a sharp look, a hint of understanding in his smile.
“Whether he’s a car thief or someone working for the Summer family, once we catch him, the truth will come out,” Simon said.
He turned to Nina, his voice full of excitement. “Nina, we’ve pinpointed the suspect’s hideout. The team’s heading out to stake it out right now.”
Nina stepped forward without hesitation. “Simon, I’m coming too,
Simon grabbed Nina’s medical kit with practiced ease, a knowing glint in his eyes.
He said, “Let’s go. The cover of night is perfect. Bring our little animal detectives. Time to close the net.”
