Chapter 202 Please Arrest Me

Chapter 202 Please Arrest Me

Ramon sighed. “I just asked the maid. She said she saw it this morning, but it probably got spooked by all the people coming and going and is hiding somewhere now.”

He pulled out his walkie-talkie. “Do you want me to ask Roland to send some people to help you search?”

“No.” Nina quickly waved her hands in protest, then patted the cat bag on her back with a grin. “Cats are the best at finding other cats. Trust me.”

As she spoke, she unzipped the bag and released the mighty Tabby King, then showed him a picture of the Abyssinian Cat on her phone.

Tabby King stretched lazily, flicking the tip of his tail. “Oh, so we’re looking for that Pharaoh Cat, huh?”

The Abyssinian Cat had the look of those sacred felines from ancient murals, and kind of resembled a little puma.

That was why folks called it the Pharaoh Cat.

Tabby King turned to Nina, his eyes brimming with confidence. “Just wait here. I’ll be right back.”

As soon as he finished, he shot off, vanishing into the depths of the courtyard in a flash.

Just then, a rush of hurried footsteps could be heard from outside the door.

Each heavy thump of a cane against the floor sent a jolt of tension through the room.

A sharp-eyed old man stormed in, surrounded by a squad of bodyguards, his presence intimidating.

He moved with a commanding air, his gaze as sharp as a hawk’s, radiating authority that filled the room.

The Forestville cops started to step forward to block him, but hesitated as soon as he realized who it was.

Clearly, this old man was a big deal, so in the end, they just made a show of trying to stop him.

Ramon quickly stepped up. “Mr. Fletcher, what brings you here? We’re still investigating. Barging into Winston Manor like this really isn’t appropriate.”

Nina immediately realized who it was as soon as she heard “Mr. Fletcher”.

The scowling old man in front of her was none other than Casen, Kaysen’s sworn enemy as well as the media’s prime suspect.

Casen ignored Ramon’s warning, slamming his cane down with a heavy thud that echoed through the room.

His sharp gaze swept across everyone, and he said in a low voice, “Is this how the police do their job? It’s been days, and you still haven’t found the truth.

“Everyone out there is gossiping, saying I tried to poison Kaysen.”

Casen grew even more agitated, pounding his cane on the floor again and again. “I’ve always been a decent man, and now, for no reason, I’m being accused of being a poisoner.

“And Fletcher Foods is getting caught up in this mess, too.”

He suddenly sneered. “Kaysen almost ruined me and left me with nothing when we were young. Even now, he’s still trying to drag me down one last time. This is so disgusting.”

Ramon raised his hand, trying to calm him down. “Mr. Fletcher, please don’t get worked up. The case has only just happened. You’ve got to give us a chance to investigate.”

Casen snorted, slamming his cane on the floor. “My company is bleeding money every single minute. Are you guys going to pay me back for all that?

“Tomorrow is our big fifteenth anniversary bash and the grand opening of our flagship store. The media will be swarming, the place packed with guests. If this made-up scandal blows up my whole event, I-”

Ramon wiped the sweat from his forehead and hurried to explain, “We’ve already brought in a consultant. We’ll crack this case as fast as we can.”

Casen turned to look at Nina, who was standing aside, and he gave her a once-over from head to toe.

To him, she was just a young girl, completely bundled up in a hat and mask.

“You?” he said, his voice thick with doubt. “Are you the consultant?”

Nina nodded calmly.

Successfully unlocked!

Casen squinted. “I’ve only ever heard of a consultant in Jelasury, and his name is Alex. He helped me bust an international scam years ago, and that was all thanks to the Summer family’s connections and his sharp instincts.”

Casen looked Nina up and down. “Are you also a consultant? Looks to me like you’re all by yourself. There’s not even an

assistant in sight.”

Nina said firmly, “No assistant, but I’m still the consultant. Doesn’t that make me even more qualified than Alex?”

Casen paused, a little surprised. “You’ve got a sharp tongue, kid.”

He nodded. “Just get to the truth and clear my name by the end of today.”

He pulled out his pocket watch and glanced at it, his voice serious. “Our company has poured everything into this flagship store. It’s going live online and offline at 9 a.m. tomorrow. It’s 2 p.m. now, so you’ve got 19 hours.”

He fixed his sharp gaze on Nina and laid down the terms. “Listen, for every hour you crack the case before 9 a.m. tomorrow, I’ll give you an extra 30 thousand dollars.”

Nina did quick math in her mind. She thought, ’30 thousand dollars for every hour I finish early? That means if I could solve the case in two hours, I would get 510 thousand dollars.’

She found it strange that while Kaysen was out cold and his kids were busy plotting over the inheritance, the only one shelling out serious cash to get to the bottom of things was his enemy.

However, Casen really had no choice. If he kept wearing the “prime suspect” label, the hit to Fletcher Foods’ reputation and stock price would be way more than what they expected.

Just as Nina was lost in thought, she suddenly felt something furry brush against her ankle.

She glanced down and saw the mighty Tabby King strutting over.

Tabby King lifted his chin, his eyes gleaming with composure. “I’ve tracked down that Pharaoh Cat.”
