Chapter 209 It Found Me Before

Chapter 209 It Found Me Before

Tabby King moved with incredible agility, disappearing around the corner of the hallway in no time.

By the time Nina caught up, she had just caught a glimpse of Tabby King darting into the elevator.

The elevator doors shut right in Nina’s face.

She felt a jolt of anxiety and quickly looked at the floor indicator by the door, watching the numbers start to rise.

The elevator was taking Tabby King upstairs.

“That’s weird,” Nina murmured under her breath. “Tabby King is usually so composed. Why is he bolting around all of a sudden?”

Recalling Tabby King’s reaction just now, she wondered, ‘If Tabby King has caught a whiff of something.”

As she frantically pressed the down button, she found that nothing happened. The button didn’t respond at all.

Only then did she notice the sign beside the elevator. This was an Executive Elevator, and it needed a key card to use it.

Just as Nina turned to head for the stairs, the elevator behind her gave a soft ding and slowly slid open.

Nina instinctively turned around, and when she saw the scene inside the elevator, she froze.

Quentin was standing there, holding her Tabby King in his arms. Shadow crouched at his feet, while James stood off to the side, looking respectful.

Quentin’s usual cool gaze was lowered.

His long fingers idly stroked the soft fur at the back of Tabby King’s neck.

Quentin’s jet black suit was a sharp contrast to Tabby King’s tabby markings, making the whole scene look like something straight out of a magazine cover.

Tabby King, who was usually all cold and distant, was now snuggled up in Quentin’s arms. Tabby King’s tail tip flicked lazily, looking like he was loving every second of being pampered.

When Quentin saw the stunned look on Nina’s face, he glanced up and plopped Tabby King into her arms. “Guess he beat someone to the punch finding me.”

Nina hugged Tabby King tight, with a defiant tilt of her chin. “Did you shower in catnip or something? No wonder it ditched me for you.”

She lowered her head, tapping Tabby King on the forehead. Nina said, “Tabby King, you scared me half to death!

“Not even a heads-up before you run off.”

Tabby King looked up. “I caught a whiff of Shadow’s dog smell from way off. I thought something was wrong with my nose for a second.

“Had to go see for myself!”

“Nina!” Shadow called.

At that moment, Shadow dashed up to Nina’s feet, pulling Quentin, who was still holding the leash, a few steps closer to

Nina.

Shadow rubbed his chin against Nina’s pant leg. “Wow, we actually bumped into each other! Talk about fate.”

Nina gave Shadow’s head a friendly pat. “Guess we really are fated to meet.”

Shadow’s eyes sparkled as he gazed up at Nina with pure admiration.

Shadow said, “Nina! Tabby King told me you’re like a super sleuth here to crack the case!

“Quentin has got the rescue covered, and you’re the hero who’s gonna catch the bad guys who hurt Kaysen!

“You two are a match made in heaven!” Shadow wagged its tail excitedly.

Nina’s ears went hot, and she gave a little cough as she rubbed Shadow’s head. “Stop it.

“I heard the whole story. If you hadn’t led the team, Kaysen wouldn’t have pulled through.” She looked up at Quentin.

“Saving lives is just part of my job.

“But catching the culprit? That’s all you.

(

“Looks like Ms. Summer’s the real hero here.” Successfully unlocked!

When Nina heard Quentin praise her, she raised an eyebrow. It’s not every day Mr. Hayes hands out compliments. I’ve gotta remember this moment!”

James spoke up, “Mr. Hayes, the Starglaze clients will be arriving at the Hayes Group building in two hours.”

“Are you heading back to Jelasburg?” Nina asked.

“Yeah,” Quentin nodded. “It’s on my way. Want a ride?”

Nina shook her head. “No, I drove here myself.”

James stepped up with a friendly smile.

He said, “Ms. Summer, just hand me your car keys. We’ll have someone drive your car back to Jelasburg for you.

“If you hop on the rooftop helicopter, you’ll be back in just half an hour.

“That’s just enough time to grab a quick snack while you’re in the air.

Nina stared, wide-eyed. “Wait, a helicopter? Back home?”

She thought, ‘Rich people really do live in a world full of choices I can’t even imagine.’

“Half an hour is super quick, but the noise from helicopters is just too much for cats. I’m worried Tabby King might freak out,” Nina said.

Before she could finish, Shadow came rushing over, tail wagging with excitement.

Shadow said, “Don’t worry, Nina! They’ve got special soundproof helmets for us pets on the helicopter. Super comfy, trust me!

“I’ve ridden in it loads of times!” Being Quentin’s trusty sleep dog, Shadow was used to tagging along wherever he flew. Tabby King, usually the picture of cool, totally lost his chill. He slapped his paw on Nina’s shoulder, bursting with excitement.

Tabby King said, “I’m in! Your king is taking to the skies!

“I’m the flashiest feline in the neighborhood. I’ll be the first cat in the whole zoo to ride the clouds!”

Nina couldn’t help but laugh, holding down the restless Tabby King. “You silly thing, what are you going on about now?” A hint of a smile flickered in Quentin’s eyes as he asked James to swipe his card for the elevator again. “Shall we?”

Nina didn’t hesitate and handed her car keys over to James.

Then, with Tabby King still buzzing with excitement in her arms, she followed Quentin and Shadow into the private elevator, riding straight up to the hospital’s rooftop helipad.

The moment the elevator doors slid open, the whole world seemed to open up before them.

Spread out across the hospital rooftop was a big white “H” that instantly caught their eye.

Parked on the helipad was a sleek black Airbus H135, its body gleaming with understated luxury in the sunlight, looking cool as hell.

The moment Tabby King laid eyes on the helicopter, his pupils went round as saucers, practically glowing with excitement.

Tabby King said, “Hey, human! I want that flying machine! Go buy me one, pronto!”
