The Fake Heiress and Her Purrfect Partner novel Chapter 228

Chapter 228

:

Simon massaged his brow. Quentin’s calm face flashed through his mind.

He looked at Grant, hesitated for a moment, and finally seemed to make up his mind. “Captain Cole, you mentioned last time that you wanted to introduce Nina to some promising young officers. If it’s possible, could you help set that up?”

Grant looked surprised, then smiled. “No problem! I know a few young officers who really look up to Nina’s abilities.”

Then he continued, confused, “But didn’t you say before that Nina was still young and there was no rush?”

Simon kept his composure, speaking with a measured and earnest tone. “Nina is really still young. But getting to know more decent and ambitious people will be good for her development. As her brother, I want her to meet new people in a positive environment.”

Simon didn’t leave any room for argument.

Grant nodded and said seriously, “You are right. I’ll see to it. I’ll pull together a few of our best young people and arrange it as a normal peer-to-peer exchange so she can socialize and learn.”

“Thank you, Captain Cole,” Simon nodded and said calmly, his gaze clear and unwavering.

For Quentin, a top doctor, a common cold was no big deal. Under his care, Nina recovered quickly.

When she woke up the next morning, she felt more comfortable, almost back to her usual energetic self.

Nina was about to head straight to the zoo to check on the expansion project. But under Quentin’s orders, James escorted her to Goodwin Hospital’s main branch in Jelasburg.

A luxurious long-wheelbase Bentley was already parked outside the Forest Isle Zoo’s office building.

“Ms. Summer,” James said respectfully, “your complete blood count results showed a few slight irregularities. Quentin looked over the results and wants you to get a more detailed screening, just to be sure.”

Nina sprang up from her seat in amazement. “Quentin’s worried?”

She thought, ‘Even a top dog like Quentin is stumped?’

A hundred tragic endings flashed through Nina’s head, and her heart sank,

Seeing her face go pale, James jumped in to calm her down. “Ms. Summer, don’t freak yourself out. This is just a routine, in-depth exam to make sure everything is…”

“Go! Go to the hospital.” Before James could even finish his sentence, Nina shot out the door and dove straight

into the car.

She buckled her seatbelt fast, babbling nonstop, “Hurry! James, let’s get moving!

“I’m so young. My grand zoo revival isn’t even done yet. I don’t wanna die.”

James caught sight of her in the rearview mirror. She looked like she was bracing for the end, ready to draft her will any second. He couldn’t help but laugh.

He started the car smoothly, playing along. “Alright, Ms. Summer, hang on tight.”

Goodwin Hospital in Jelasburg looked seriously impressive.

The modern glass-walled building shimmered in the sunlight.

As soon as the long-wheelbase Bentley got close to the gate, the sharp-eyed security captain spotted the license plate and instantly snapped to attention. He grabbed his walkie-talkie, his voice jumping an octave. “Boss is here!

“Copy that. The boss’s car is outside the entrance. Everyone, be on high alert.”

As soon as the words dropped, the whole building went silent.

The front desk nurse quickly straightened her collar. Doctors in the waiting area instinctively stood taller. Within three seconds, everyone was on high alert.

Even the nurses and doctors walking the halls sped up their steps, but kept absolutely silent.

Everyone was standing at attention, all thanks to Quentin’s legendary perfectionism and unquestioned authority.

The car door swung open, and Nina, in a pale yellow dress, hopped out of the car.

Her long hair flowed down her back, and her eyes were lively. But she looked a little pale, as if she hadn’t fully shaken off her cold yet.

When folks realized it was some unfamiliar girl stepping out of Quentin’s car, the whole lobby went wild with gossip.

“Wait, it’s a girl?”

“Who is she? She’s pretty, but kinda looks under the weather.”

“James is actually coming along for her checkup? That’s a first. Who’s this girl, anyway?”

Whispers spread, and gossip shot through the hospital quickly.

James led Nina inside. Nina could feel everyone staring at her from all sides.

She pressed her lips together, feeling like a rare animal that had wandered into a crowd and become the center of attention.

James acted like he didn’t notice a thing, guiding her with quiet respect. “Ms. Summer, Mr. Hayes will be here soon. Please, make yourself comfortable in his office for now.”

Just as Nina was about to follow James to Quentin’s office, chaos erupted at the hospital entrance.
