The Fake Heiress and Her Purrfect Partner novel Chapter 236

Chapter 236

:

The receptionist didn’t notice the subtle tension in the air and kept on with the introduction, all smiles. “Mr. Hayes, this is our boss’s son, Colter.

“He’s actually a combat instructor for the regional SWAT team, so his skills are top-notch. He helps keep an eye on the place when he’s around, but doesn’t do any coaching.”

Colter stepped forward politely and shook Quentin’s hand in greeting.

Quentin glanced at Nina, his tone calm but with a hint of something more. “Thought you didn’t do any coaching, Mr. Emerson?”

Colter smiled and said, “She’s someone I made an exception for. I promised to help her out, so I can’t just bail on her.

“Mr. Hayes, maybe let someone from admin show you around the base first? I’ll come find you once I finish the intro session with her.”

Nina could sense that after Colter called her a special friend, Quentin’s look at her got even colder.

The receptionist quickly jumped in to smooth things over. “Mr. Hayes, let me show you our equipment area first.”

“No need,” Quentin cut him off, his eyes still fixed on the training field. “Just get me a chair. I’ll sit right here and see how your team teaches.”

A chair was brought over in no time, and Quentin sat down with ease, crossing his legs.

He sat quietly on the sidelines, watching as Colter showed Nina the most basic fighting stances.

He didn’t say a word the whole time, but his presence was like a heavy fog, quietly blanketing the entire training area.

He’d spent the whole afternoon buried in her abnormal medical test results, didn’t even have time for a sip of coffee, and had put that international medical forum invitation on the back burner.

And now, Nina had somehow ended up here on a blind date,

Quentin’s face stayed perfectly calm, not a hint of emotion showing.

Every seemingly casual glance from him zeroed in on just how close the two of them were standing together.

‘Good,’ Quentin thought to himself.

Quentin wanted to see just how far this grappling lesson was going to go,

Nina was so rattled by Quentin’s stare that her nerves were shot; she could barely pull off even the most basic

moves.

Even Colter, a seasoned pro, couldn’t help but feel the tension in the air.

Quentin’s aura was downright intimidating, almost scary.

Jason stormed into the training base, only to walk right into this tense scene.

Quentin sat on the sidelines like a grim reaper, cold and intimidating, his eyes locked onto the pair in the center of the training field.

“Quentin, hi.” Jason’s voice hit the training area before he did, that trademark troublemaker tone echoing all around. “Weren’t you supposed to be checking out the racing base?

“How’d your little inspection tour end up bringing you all the way over here?”

He darted over to Quentin, followed his gaze to Colter in the training area, and exaggeratedly clicked his tongue. “Wow, this coach really looks solid, the kind of guy parents would love.”

When Quentin didn’t react, Jason nudged him even harder with his elbow. “Dude, check out how close they’re standing, practically shoulder to shoulder.”

Quentin shot him a frosty glare, and Jason instantly mimed zipping his lips, pretending to shut up, though his eyes were still sparkling with mischief, clearly waiting for the show to unfold.

The basic fight training session wrapped up.

Colter was just about to hand Nina a bottle of water.

But Jason beat him to it, quickly handing Nina the water and towel James had prepared, his bright green eyes shining with a big grin. “Nina, that was tough. Here, wipe off your sweat.”

Colter glanced at the handsome guy with those striking features who’d suddenly shown up, then looked over at Quentin sitting nearby with that intense vibe, and could practically feel the pressure in the air.

‘Are these two both here trying to win over Professor Summer, or what?’ Colter wondered.

Colter set the water bottle aside and headed to the equipment room to grab some wrist guards for Nina.

Nina was totally thrown off by Jason suddenly popping up.

Before she could even process it, Jason leaned in and whispered, “Nina, look at Quentin. Just sitting there, and he’s turning this whole training base into an icebox.

“Why not just make it official with him? Maybe then he’ll stop following you around like some lovesick ghost.”

As soon as he finished talking, Jason could feel Quentin’s icy glare stabbing right through him, like he was about to get skewered alive.

Jason threw his hands up in surrender, retreating step by step with a cheeky grin. “Alright, I’m shutting up. But Nina, if you really go for the dependable, solid kind?”

He shot a look at Colter, then at Quentin. “Honestly, Quentin can fake being that type pretty convincingly

when he puts on an act.”

Jason’s comment was like a bomb going off. Nina was left gaping in shock.

Her face went beet red, her ears burning. “What are you even saying? I’m really just here to learn grappling, I

swear.”

She glanced at Jason, then at Quentin, and explained earnestly, “Officer Emerson’s only teaching me because Simon asked him to. We literally just met today.”

Quentin tugged at his collar, looking a little less tense.

Jason, seeing Quentin relax a bit, got even more fired up and stretched out his words on purpose. “Oh, so Mr. Reed arranged all this? Isn’t that basically a secret matchmaking session?”

“A blind date?” Nina’s eyes went wide. “Who goes on a blind date at a training base? Don’t people usually go to restaurants for that?”

“Well, they didn’t even get a chance to switch locations before Quentin jumped in and stole the show,” Jason joked, grinning from ear to ear.

Quentin stood up and placed a hand on Jason’s shoulder. “Alright, quit messing with her.”
