The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 104

Meanwhile, Stanley had just wrapped up a meeting. As he was walking back to his office, Miles reported, "Mr. Zimmer, reception just called. Zander is here. Do you want to see him?"

Stanley paused in his tracks, letting out a cold scoff. "Does he think I'm someone he can just demand to see? Tell him to crawl back to whatever hole he came from."

He resumed walking, then suddenly stopped again. "Oh, by the way. His brain isn't working quite right. Have someone cool his head before he leaves!"

Zander waited anxiously for a solid fifteen minutes before the receptionist's phone finally rang.

She answered, "Mhm, mhm..."

Hanging up, she pointed toward the exit. "Mr. Zimmer has asked you to wait for him by the flower beds."

Zander looked confused, not understanding what Stanley's play was here. But since he was the one seeking forgiveness.

He had to play the part.

"Let's go. We'll wait for Mr. Zimmer outside."

The three of them walked over to the flower beds. Before they could even find a place to stand, several landscapers grabbed their water hoses and, completely out of nowhere, blasted them with full pressure.

Ahhhhh!

Caught totally off guard, Renata let out a piercing scream.

In a split second, acting almost entirely on instinct, Zander twisted his body to the right, his arm shooting out like lightning to drag Renata into his embrace.

At the same time, he shielded her with his own body, standing like a human wall in front of her.

Water pummeled him from all directions, drenching his back and head, turning him into a soaking mess while he fiercely protected the woman in his arms.

Queenie was standing right next to him. The sudden blast of water left her mind completely blank.

But watching Zander's raw, instinctual urge to protect Renata in a moment of panic left her utterly stunned.

For a moment, she even forgot to dodge, letting the icy water hit her directly.

It felt like she was drowning in a torrential downpour.

Even though Renata was shielded by Zander, water still splashed onto her, turning her flawless makeup into a smeared disaster.
