Renata's eyes were glued to Stanley's wrist. He was wearing an ultra-luxurious watch. She couldn't name the brand, but that watch...
Why did it look so familiar?
It felt like she had seen it somewhere before.
She scoured her memory, trying to recall where she had seen that exact timepiece.
Meanwhile, Zander finally snapped out of his own shock. Stanley's brutal treatment of Renata had completely thrown him for a loop.
He couldn't fathom what this good-cop-bad-cop routine was supposed to mean.
He spoke up again, his tone deeply sincere. "Mr. Zimmer, what happened that day was entirely my fault. I genuinely apologize. I hope that, seeing as I brought my wife here personally to make amends, you can forgive me just this once.
From now on, I will watch my words and actions. I will never act so arrogantly again."
As Zander gave his speech, Stanley wasn't listening to a single word.
Although Queenie had changed into a fresh outfit, her undergarments were still damp, and her hair hadn't been fully dried. To make matters worse, she was sitting directly under an air conditioning vent.
She had always been sensitive to the cold, and right now, she was visibly shivering.
Zander, of course, hadn't noticed this tiny detail.
But Stanley did.
He also noticed that her lips had gone slightly pale from the chill.
Calmly withdrawing his gaze, he discreetly picked up the remote on his desk and turned off the AC.
To a man, this minuscule gesture would go completely unnoticed, but Renata caught it with absolute clarity.
She was utterly stunned.
Was Stanley Zimmer looking out for Queenie?
As a psychologist, she was trained to notice the smallest details.
She didn't believe for a second that Stanley's action just now was a coincidence.
