The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 117

Zander's brain short-circuited.

In a desperate blur of motion, he lunged forward and snatched the phone back from Queenie's grip.

His face was instantly ashen. "It's nothing. Just some trashy video a buddy sent me. I didn't want it to pollute your eyes."

He swallowed hard, panic practically radiating off him.

Queenie stared at his pathetic, guilt-ridden face and let out a dry laugh.

He had been quick, but not quick enough. She had seen the thumbnail.

Not that it mattered—she had already seen the exact same footage before anyway.

She couldn't even be bothered to call him out. Her expression flattened into pure apathy. "What did you want to talk about?"

"Queenie... let's have a baby."

Zander reached out and grabbed both of her hands.

He couldn't deny it—hearing her conversation at the Ancestral Hall today had absolutely terrified him.

He had never seriously considered the possibility that she might actually leave him.

Sure, they had been fighting non-stop lately.

And yes, she had thrown the word "divorce" around in anger, but he had brushed it off.

He thought it was just a temper tantrum.

But knowing she was actively plotting her exit when she thought he wasn't listening?

That wasn't a tantrum. That was a plan!

It forced him to sober up and realize just how deeply he had wounded her.

Thinking back on how cruel he had been, and how blatantly he had favored Renata and Romy, a wave of profound guilt and self-loathing crashed over him.

Thank god he had overheard her. Thank god it wasn't too late to fix this.

If he just groveled, if he just treated her right, everything would go back to normal.
