The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 13

Holding the camera between his fingers, Zander felt as though a massive earthquake had just hit his core. His mind went completely blank...

A camera? There was a camera in his study?

Then everything he and Renata had done in this room...

An overwhelming wave of panic washed over him. He forced himself to take a deep breath and stay calm.

The most pressing issue right now was finding out where this camera came from.

His first instinct was to wonder if Queenie had planted it.

But thinking rationally, this camera might not have anything to do with her. He couldn't let himself panic. If Queenie had known, there was no way she would have stayed quiet.

He comforted himself the same way he always did, convincing himself that Queenie loved him. If she knew, her jealousy would have caused an absolute uproar by now.

Pulling his chaotic thoughts together, he took out his phone and texted Queenie: *Come to my study for a second.*

Queenie was just getting ready to head to her atelier when she received the message. She turned around and headed for his study.

The moment she walked in, she saw Zander standing by the bookcase. He was holding a small, black, circular object in his hand.

She knew instantly.

She walked over to him, completely unfazed. "What's up?"

"Did you plant this?" Zander held the camera up immediately.

When Queenie installed the camera, she fully anticipated the day Zander would find it. So she wasn't panicked in the slightest now.

"No. What is that?"

"It's a camera. Did you really not put this here?"

"Why would I put a camera in your study? Do you have some kind of secret in here?"

Her counter-question made Zander feel an instant rush of guilt. His eyes darted away as he muttered, "If you didn't plant it, then who did?"

"Could it be a corporate rival? If a competitor is trying to spy on your confidential information, they wouldn't just stop at your home study."
