The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 24

Renata took the photo, pretending to analyze it for a few seconds. "Marilyn, honestly, it does look a bit altered."

She shifted her gaze to Queenie. "Queenie loves Zander deeply. She would never betray him. This must be some sort of misunderstanding."

"Love? If she really loved him, would she have refused to let him touch her the entire time they were dating?"

"Does physical boundaries equate to a lack of love?" Queenie fired back coldly.

"Obviously! If you genuinely love a man, you can't wait to jump into bed with him!"

"Well, I certainly can't compare to you, Marilyn. Some people prefer to get knocked up before the wedding invitations are even sent out."

"You..."

Marilyn was practically hyperventilating with rage. Queenie used to be so submissive, always keeping her head down.

When did she become so sharp-tongued and aggressive?

This only fueled Marilyn's absolute certainty that Queenie was sleeping around. She had been trapped in a sexless marriage for so long that she was desperate for a divorce, but was too embarrassed to ask for it herself. So she was trying to provoke the Calvert family into initiating it.

Having convinced herself of this theory, Marilyn decided to drop the cheating accusation for now.

She refused to give Queenie what she wanted.

Queenie had ruined her brother's manhood.

She was going to make sure Queenie stayed trapped in this miserable house forever!

Reining in her temper, Marilyn shot Queenie a look of pure disgust and pulled Renata down to sit next to her affectionately.

"Whatever. I'm not going to stoop to the level of someone with no class. The difference between people is staggering. I suppose our family was just unlucky enough to bring a spiteful shrew into the house.

Now, look at Dr. Whitlock. Elegant, well-educated, respectful, and so fiercely independent. Running such a successful practice... Now that is a woman worthy of respect."

Renata smiled with fake humility. "Oh, Marilyn, you flatter me far too much. I hardly deserve such praise..."

"It makes perfect sense why you two get along so well. You have the exact same track record. Birds of a feather," Queenie sneered.

Renata had also gotten pregnant out of wedlock, given birth, and divorced a mere six months later.

Before Renata could even register the insult, Zander lost his temper.
