The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 25

Panic flashed in Renata's eyes.

She glanced nervously around the dark garden and shoved at the man's chest. "Simon, your wife is literally right inside. Stop this."

"It's been a long time since I've heard you say my name like that. Hearing it again... brings back quite a few memories of the old days."

Renata shoved him harder, her eyes darting around frantically.

Her voice, however, turned razor-sharp. "Simon Sinclair, do not forget who you are. You cannot afford a scandal. What happened between us was a long time ago. With your current status and power, you need to watch your step."

Simon chuckled softly, pinning her back against the wall. One hand trailed dangerously low.

"It was a long time ago, yes. But your habit of using men as stepping stones..." His touch grew bolder. "...hasn't changed a bit."

...

Inside the bedroom.

Marilyn sat at her mother's bedside, furiously listing off all of Queenie's supposed crimes.

She kept insisting that Queenie had cheated and made a total fool out of her brother.

Lianne was exhausted. "Stop obsessing over Zander's marriage and focus on your own. Simon is moving up in the world. You need to figure out how to keep your husband happy before you end up being the one getting cheated on without a clue."

Marilyn scoffed, thoroughly arrogant. "Anyone else might cheat, but not my Simon. He is utterly obsessed with me. He doesn't even look at other women."

"Don't be so blindly confident. Remember that scandal years ago about him keeping that college student as a mistress..."

Marilyn's expression instantly darkened. "Mom, how many times do I have to tell you? That was a baseless rumor. Sponsoring a pretty student? Sending her abroad? It was a complete smear campaign fabricated by his political rivals. Simon and I have been married for over a decade. I know exactly who he is."

"Fine, fine. If you refuse to listen, I won't say another word. Just look out for yourself."

"Hmph. Everyone in my social circle knows not to mess with Marilyn Calvert. If any woman dares to come after my husband, I'll rip her to shreds!"
