The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 48

Zander chided her gently, "I didn't know last night, but you didn't even mention it today. If I had known you just had surgery, I would've made sure you rested at home instead of coming out here."

Thinking back to how he had assumed she was just lazily sleeping all day and the harsh things he had said to her in the car, Zander's guilt deepened, his voice softening even more.

"From now on, you need to tell me immediately whenever something happens. I'm your husband. I'm your rock. I shouldn't have to find out about something as major as surgery from a total stranger."

Queenie let out a cold laugh in her head.

*You're sleeping around with another woman under my roof, and you expect me to treat you like a rock?*

Sitting across from them, Renata was gripping the edge of the table so tightly she nearly snapped her fresh manicure.

She was supposed to be the undisputed star of tonight.

Yet here Zander was, hovering around that bitch Queenie like a lovesick puppy.

So what if she had a tiny little appendectomy?

Big deal!

It wasn't like they had to surgically remove her uterus!

Actually, even if they had, it wouldn't matter.

She wasn't using it anyway.

*Buzz.*

Queenie's phone vibrated lightly against the table.

She slipped it onto her lap and unlocked the screen. It was a message from her uncle, Perry Xylon.

"I just saw you talking with the Zimmers outside the Imperial Lounge. Be careful. You know exactly how much your grandfather despises the Zimmer family."

Queenie stared at the screen, her brain short-circuiting for a brief second.

The Zimmer family...

Which member of the Zimmer family was she talking to... Mr. Zimmer?!

Her eyes flew wide. Was this "Mr. Zimmer" from the very family her grandfather hated with a burning passion?

Queenie knew bits and pieces of her grandfather's history, but not much. She only knew that a wealthy young master from the Zimmer family had stolen the love of his life.

It was a generational feud, so she rarely asked questions about it.

Naturally, the Zimmer family was entirely foreign to her.
