The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 64

Without another word, she turned and walked away.

Renata shrieked, stomping her feet in frantic rage. "Queenie Xylon, what are you doing?! Police! Police! She assaulted me..."

The cleaning lady ambled over and rolled her eyes at her. "A homewrecker still has the nerve to yell? Shut your mouth. Shamelessly seducing someone else's husband... You should consider yourself lucky the wife only threw dirty water at you instead of acid..."

The cleaning lady had overheard the recording while she was mopping.

Renata's face turned a mottled shade of liver-purple.

After returning to the Calvert residence, Queenie immediately took off her clothes and went to bed.

Her chest still felt suffocatingly tight, but she didn't want to overthink things anymore.

If Zander wanted to be pathetic, she couldn't stop him.

He must have been incredibly drunk tonight to act so crazy. Tomorrow, when he sobered up and saw the massive mess he was in, only to realize he had gotten into a brawl for the very person who caused it...

He'd probably want to slap himself.

Drowsiness slowly washed over her, and Queenie drifted off to sleep.

Early the next morning, she was sleeping soundly when a series of loud thumps downstairs woke her.

She got out of bed, freshened up, and headed straight downstairs. But the moment she reached the landing, a soccer ball whizzed straight at her.

Had she not dodged in time, the ball would have smacked her right in the forehead.

Focusing her gaze, her delicate brows snapped together into a fierce scowl.

Staring deadly at the mother and daughter downstairs, an unbearable surge of fury instantly coursed through her entire body...

Renata shot her a taunting smirk.

Romy ran straight upstairs, stopped in front of her, and stuck her tongue out, pulling a face. "Bleh! Bad lady! Didn't expect this, did you? We're back already!"

Heh.

Queenie laughed out loud.

There is no greater sorrow than a dead heart, and there is no greater sign of a dead heart than a hollow laugh.

In all her twenty-five years, she had never felt anything as absurd as this moment.
