Renata was standing at a display counter, trying on an expensive watch.
Two sales associates were eagerly fawning over her.
"Miss, this watch truly suits you. Look at these top-tier diamonds pavé-set on the bezel. Every single one went through the strictest selection process. The fire they reflect under the light makes it look like you're wearing a galaxy on your wrist."
"Exactly. It perfectly complements your independent, confident, and outstanding aura. A match made in heaven."
Listening to the sales associates' flattery.
Renata was highly satisfied.
She smiled, just about to tell them to wrap it up.
Suddenly, an exaggerated gasp came from behind her. "Wow, look at this stunning... witch! Oh, sorry, I meant watch!"
Hearing the barely disguised insult, Renata's expression changed instantly. A stranger rushed up to her, grabbed her wrist, eyes sparkling brightly. "So pretty. This watch really is pretty."
"Who do you think you are?"
Displeased, Renata yanked her hand back. Something about the way this girl spoke made her extremely uncomfortable.
Jocelyn then pretended to look up at her face and let out another gasp. "Oh my god, Dr. Whitlock! It's you!"
Renata frowned, looking at the girl, then glancing behind her.
Seeing Queenie standing there, everything suddenly clicked.
She curled her lips into a mocking sneer. Her eyes drifted to the piles of shopping bags in Queenie's hands, and she spoke in a sarcastic, condescending tone. "Queenie, you just ran away from home this morning to spite Zander, and here you are already out spending his money. I suggest you go easy on whatever cash you have left. It'd be awfully embarrassing if you ran dry and had to go crawling back to him, begging for an allowance."
"Then how are you paying for this watch, Dr. Whitlock? Where's your money coming from?"
Before Queenie could speak.
