The Fragrance Queen's Final Note novel Chapter 89

The next day.

Following the address she had given him, the man arrived at her atelier.

Compared to when she had seen him just days ago in London, he looked significantly worse.

Sitting across from him at the small table, she poured him a cup of coffee. "You got here faster than I expected."

His eyes were hollow, dead to the world. His pale lips parted slightly. "Because my time is running out."

The ominous phrasing caught her off guard. "You..."

"I need a stage," he interrupted, straight to the point. "An opportunity to publicly destroy Renata Whitlock in front of as many people as possible."

He clearly had no interest in discussing his personal tragedies.

"What kind of secret are you holding over her?"

She was genuinely dying to know.

She had planned on ruining the woman when her divorce was finalized, but truthfully, she didn't have a guaranteed killing blow.

If this man held the ultimate trump card, he was undeniably her strongest ally.

"You don't need to know that yet. When it's time, the world will hear it. I'm not from around here, so I don't have connections. If you find the right stage, tell me."

"Can you at least tell me how you know her?"

She figured he had to be the mysterious ex-husband from her brief, hushed marriage.

His answer, however, shattered that theory.

"I was the man she cheated with. If you want to define our relationship, I was nothing more than her paramour."

Right. No love.

Just a dirty little secret.

"You aren't her ex-husband?"

"No."

She was completely floored.

Just how many men was Renata juggling? The woman was an absolute sociopath!

Her phone suddenly began buzzing violently. Glancing at the screen, she saw Zander's name.
