It took me a moment to respond as I was still listening to my racing heart. It wasn’t because I was excited to run into him, I just couldn’t believe that despite my efforts to avoid him, he was still right there..
My eyes darted between my friends as both of them just waited in anticipation for my response. They seemed ready to do whatever I was about to say. I could have easily told them to go on their own while I stayed back, but why would I? It’s not like I was hiding from him.
“We’re going to that furniture store.” My voice was firm.
“Really?” they asked in unison, their eyes wide open in surprise.
“Yup. Let’s go.” With my head high, I led the way.
I glanced back at my friends and they seemed so worried about me, but handle the situation.
smiled at both of them, an assurance that I could
When I turned at the corner, I spotted some men in suits at a distance on the right side of the long corridor. Grayson was part of them and was still being shown around while he was surrounded.
The closer I got, the faster my heart raced until I heard it in my ears.
He hadn’t yet noticed me as he was still looking around.
I told myself there was no need to make him notice me, so I looked ahead and stuck to the left side of the corridor.
As he began to ask a question to those in his company, I walked by with my friends and he never got to finish his question as he trailed off.
I couldn’t tell if that was because he had just spotted me, but I told myself not to care or look in his direction.
My friends weren’t affected by his presence the way I was, so they looked in his direction, then whispered to me after they got closer.
“He’s seen you!” Zoey whispered.
“He’s fucking smiling like you’re the most precious thing in the world,” Ella added.
I heard everything they had to say, but not once did I furniture store.
tur?
my head in either direction. I just wanted us to get to the next
When they told me that his tour continued in the opposite direction, I sighed with relief, but that was short–lived when Zoey made me panic with her next words.
“OMG! He’s coming back here! He’s excused himself from the others! Run!”
“No.” I said firmly.
“Look at you. You’re nervous,” Ella pointed out softly.
“I’m fine.” I didn’t fully believe what I had just said, but I didn’t want to run.
“Fine, we’ll handle this. Right, Zoey?”
“Yeah!”

If there was any way I could put some distance between Grayson and 1, apart from running away like I was seated of him, I was going to take it.

He smiled at me when our eyes met, but all I could think about was what he had done to me.
