The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 236

Theo Is Ours.

Noelle was stunned.

Silas’s lips were on hers.

But it wasn’t the kiss that made her still. It was the desperation in the way he held her neck—the way he closed his eyes, and the way he seemed to pour something raw and overwhelming into that single moment.

It felt heavy… almost aching.

As if this kiss meant far more to him than she could understand.

The touch sent a shiver down her spine.

The kiss stirred a flutter low in her stomach, warm and unfamiliar.

Noelle became aware of everything—the heat of his breath against her lips, the firm yet careful pressure of his mouth, and the way his hold anchored her in place without ever forcing her.

There was urgency in him… but restraint too.

That contrast made her pulse quicken.

Slowly, without realizing it, she leaned closer and kissed him back.

At first, it was tentative.

Then something in her gave in.

Maybe it was because of what they had been through in the past few days.

Maybe it was the way he held her, steady and unyielding… or maybe it was just him… Silas Vander.

Her fingers curled lightly against him, grasping without thought.

Then Noelle felt it—the shift.

The hesitation melted, replaced by a quiet heat that spread through her chest down to her fingertips.

The kiss no longer startled her.

It drew her in.

Noelle eventually felt that the kiss was right.

Deserved, even.

Their kisses deepened.

Silas’s grip eased just enough to let her move, but his hand remained at her neck, his thumb brushing faintly against her skin, sending another wave of warmth through her.

Her breath hitched softly.

She didn’t pull away.

Instead, she leaned into him, as if guided by something instinctive.

The space between them disappeared, even as they both kept hold of Theo.

Their breaths mingled, warm and uneven, as the kiss grew slower, deeper… lingering.

And for a moment, everything else faded.

No past. No questions. No fear.

Just the warmth of him, the steady hold of his hand, and the quiet, consuming feeling building between them.

Noelle did not want it to end, but—

“Ah… hi?”

Silas and Noelle pulled away.

Theo stared at them, a faint blush on his cheeks.

“I guess… parents do that,” Theo muttered.

Silas smiled. “Yes, parents kiss.”

Silence fell between them as they adjusted in their seats.

Noelle felt awkward, and she supposed Theo did too.

After some time, Theo asked, “But what if the DNA test is not positive?”

They were surprised by his question.

‘So, that was what was bothering him,’ Noelle thought.

“We have a strong feeling you are our son,” Silas said. “Everything matches—your birthmark, your blood type, and the person who brought you to the orphanage. But you’re right to raise that question.”
