The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 239

The Collision.

Silas’s face turned red.

Really red.

He coughed into his fist. Then, he cleared his throat and answered, “Yes, it’s a great idea. Not just for Theo, but for both of us.”

“Don’t you want to think about it?” Noelle asked.

“I have thought about it extensively,” Silas replied. “Getting married is the most reasonable course of action.”

“Don’t worry. I will ask my lawyers to expedite your divorce process,” Silas promised. “That way, we can give Theo a complete family.”

“Mom, Dad, I’m done,” Theo called from the bathroom.

Silas smiled. “We’d better get ready.”

Smiling back, Noelle nodded. “Yes.”

They all hurriedly got ready. After two hours, they arrived at Rexam Medical Institute, where a doctor fully examined Theo.

While waiting for Theo to finish his check-up, Silas and Noelle watched the video Nathaniel had sent them.

It was Ricardo Silva’s interrogation.

In the video, Ricardo was seated in a chair, his hands bound tightly with rope. He looked worn out and frightened. His voice trembled slightly as he narrated the incident seven years ago. “I reported for work early the next day, after I slept with the woman Gwen told me to.”

“Before I could even start my shift, there was already a commotion among the employees. Everyone was talking about a drugging incident, saying a powerful family was involved. The managers were in a panic. They swore to get to the bottom of it.”

Ricardo sighed and leaned back. “Gwen told me she was just an ordinary person, so I was shocked when all security was mobilized and an investigation was already underway.”

“I didn’t work that day. Instead, I called Gwen—that bitch—and told her that if I was going down, she was going down with me.” Ricardo gulped before adding, “I left the hotel and went into hiding after that. I never formally resigned. I just went AWOL. Thankfully, they weren’t able to link me to the drugging.”

“I mean, I wasn’t the one who did it. That was someone else’s job. I was only tasked to sleep with that girl, Noelle. That was her name,” Ricardo continued. “I also figured that they must have done something to resolve the matter. Still, I left Rexam. I was afraid this was all going to resurface one day.”

“What about Brian Kingsley? What is his involvement in this?” a soldier asked Ricardo.
