The Lies Behind Her Marriage novel Chapter 243

Judgment Begins.

“Mom, Dad, what if I told you this is beyond divorce?” Noelle began. “What if I told you Gwen did terrible things to me, and Brian let it happen?”

“What if Brian committed a crime—a crime that he cannot simply erase?” Noelle expounded. “Would you hate me for fighting for my rights?”

Edward clarified, “This isn’t just about Brian’s affair?”

Noelle shook her head. “I’m afraid not. It goes deeper than that. It’s something unforgivable.”

She studied them carefully and added, "You won't be able to stop what's coming for Brian."

They had already settled into their seats. Given the idea, Margaret cried some more. She covered her face with her hands and said, “Brian, what did you do? How could this happen? Where did we go wrong?”

“But we could not bring ourselves to like Gwen. How could we? She knew Brian was already in a relationship. That alone says much about her character!” Margaret explained her side.

“And it was Brian who offered to marry Noelle,” Edward reminded his wife. “If he did not choose to marry Noelle, we would not have been able to force him.”

“What if I told you Brian only married me to cover up for Gwen’s crime?” Noelle shared.

Edward and Margaret’s faces turned white, the look of disappointment becoming evident in their expressions.

It took seconds, but Edward said, “Then it’s just terribly wrong.”

Edward moved closer to Noelle and took her hand. “I was there when your father took his last breath. I promised him that I would take care of you. Your parents were our best friends. If my son has truly wronged you, then—”

A tear rolled down Edward’s face. “Then I don’t have a son anymore.”

“Noelle, please… tell us what Brian did to you,” Margaret said, her voice tight with anger. “Edward and I don’t know if we can ever make this right, but if holding him accountable is what it takes… then we will.”

Noelle’s gaze softened at the sight of Brian’s parents, their regret unmistakable. She blinked before speaking, her voice low. “Seven years ago… Gwen set me up. I was drugged. I slept with someone and got pregnant.”

Before any of them could react, she made it clear, “No, it was not Brian. I think the only reason he owned up to sleeping with me is that he feared Gwen would be arrested. Because of his actions, layers of the truth remained hidden.”

“But that isn’t the worst thing that Brian had done,” Noelle said. “He took away my son and made me take care of Gwen’s child.”

"Yes," she revealed. "Benson is not my son. He is Gwen's. I had just recently found out."

“I can’t believe your parents actually offered to take Benson,” Gwen said in the car.

Brian and his parents had a major argument about taking responsibility. After learning that Noelle had taken the initiative to divorce Brian, they wanted him to experience what it was like raising Benson.

They were even more enraged after learning that he had moved into Gwen’s apartment, practically living like a real family.

What no one knew was how the setup caused Gwen a major disadvantage.

With Benson always around, the apartment felt more chaotic. Worse, she had to help bring Ben to school, and sometimes picked him up.

It affected her sleep, her time at work, and her privacy.

Benson had even broken her favorite vase in just a few days of staying at her apartment. She had punished Benson, but Brian never knew.

Now, with Brian’s parents offering to take Benson, Gwen felt relieved.

Finally, she could have some peace and quiet, and the best part was that she and Brian could have sex freely at any time.
