The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 100

"I don't want your compensation."

Nora looked him dead in the eye, enunciating every single word. "I want her to apologize to me."

Gideon's expression completely froze.

He locked eyes with Nora's defiant stare, his brow knotting furiously.

"Nora, don't push your luck," Gideon warned, his voice laced with harsh authority.

He knew Nora was mistreated today and had suffered an unprovoked attack. He genuinely felt guilty, which was why he had personally brought the medical kit to treat her and offered incredibly generous payouts.

But that didn't mean Nora had the right to be relentless and point her dagger at Giselle.

"I know you were wronged tonight and took a physical hit."

Gideon explained, straining for patience. "But Giselle truly didn't mean it. She's just a spoiled girl who doesn't know her own strength. It was my fault for neglecting her feelings at the table; she felt terrible and lost control. After that soup spilled, she terrified herself. She's been hiding in her room crying her eyes out."

A spoiled girl. She terrified herself.

Listening to this utterly absurd logic, Nora felt her insides being violently shredded apart.

The victim was sitting right here, trembling in agony, yet the attacker was showered with pity and protection purely because she had "terrified herself."

"She terrified herself?"

The tears Nora had fought so hard to hold back finally cascaded down the uninjured side of her face. "She was terrified, so you chased after her without a second thought to coddle her. You abandoned me in that dining room, letting your relatives point their fingers and call me a malicious bitch who got what she deserved."

"Gideon, I am your wife!"

This was the first time she had ever screamed the word "wife" with such lung-tearing desperation.

Watching her cry, the violent irritation brewing in Gideon's chest surged. He hated seeing Nora act so aggressively hostile.

He stood up, towering over the woman on the bed.
