The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 374

"Why did you send her a message?"

Gideon finally spoke.

Nora froze for a moment, the hope on her face gradually stiffening.

"What?"

"I'm asking you."

Gideon carefully placed the photo frame in his hand onto the desk, his movements gentle. "Why did you send Giselle that text message?"

Nora looked at Gideon's cold face in disbelief.

"I already explained... Gideon, I explained it to you clearly in the hospital yesterday! I received an anonymous email..."

Nora's speech sped up, desperately wanting to clear up all the misunderstandings.

"That email was full of vicious curses and threats. That person threatened me to go to the rooftop of The Southview Peninsula Hotel exactly at nine o'clock. If I didn't go, they would ruin my reputation in The Metropolis."

"Who else in The Metropolis would hate me this much besides Giselle? Who else would use this kind of method to destroy me?"

Nora looked into Gideon's eyes, pouring out all her grievances.

"Not long ago at the private club, when Winston Walsh drugged me, you clearly investigated it, but you suppressed all the clues."

"I thought Giselle sent that anonymous email. I thought she still wouldn't let me off."

"I was furious. I just wanted to confront her face-to-face on the rooftop. I just wanted to warn her to put away those underhanded tricks. I absolutely did not push her!"

Nora finished all her defenses in one breath.

"I am innocent, the police have released me, why are you still asking me about sending the message..."

She stood in place, looking at the man behind the desk with red eyes, waiting for his response.

Gideon listened quietly.

He dragged out those scums hiding in the dark one by one, using blood and torture to pry open their mouths.

The truth had long been laid before him.

The assassin lurking on the rooftop of The Southview Peninsula Hotel wasn't after Giselle at all.

Those people were the Xavier family's mortal enemies in the business world.

In the three years since Nora married Gideon, out of respect for her and Silas Hayes's dying wishes, Gideon had helped Xavier Holdings and their businesses quite a bit.

Relying on their connection with the Hayes family, the Xavier family had always overpowered their opponents in the business world.

The opponents feared the immense power of The Hayes Group and didn't dare directly attack the Hayes family, let alone touch a hair on Gideon's head.

So they focused all their hatred on Nora.

As long as Nora died, the Xavier family would lose the Hayes family as their biggest backer, and those competitors would be able to completely turn the tables.
