Nora's words were not even finished.
Gideon suddenly raised his hand.
His well-defined hand swung fiercely across Nora's face.
"Smack—!"
The massive force made Nora completely lose her balance.
She fell heavily onto the floor, her cheek instantly swelling up, a trace of fresh blood seeping from the corner of her mouth.
Gideon stood in place, looking down condescendingly at the woman on the floor, his eyes devoid of any pity.
"What right do you have to feel wronged?"
"Do you think just because the police let you go, you can put on the act of an innocent victim and stand here questioning me?"
"Do you think just because the real killer isn't you, you can with peace of mind wash your hands clean of everything?"
"The one lying in there, my only sister, bore all the disasters for you!"
"When she hit the ground, every bone in her body was shattered! And you stand here crying, asking me if I'm going to return your innocence?!"
"Your innocence was bought with Giselle's life!!"
A cramp seized her abdomen. Nora curled up on the carpet, clutching her stomach with both hands as her tears continued to fall.
Her mind was full of the words Gideon had just said.
Nora looked up, staring into Gideon's bloodshot eyes.
She was a victim too.
She had never thought about killing Giselle. She just wanted to explain everything clearly, just wanted to end the fear of being constantly schemed against.
How could she have known that an assassin who wanted her dead was hiding on the rooftop.
"I didn't know..."
"The animals who pushed her down are the murderers, and so are you!!"
His haggard, skeleton-like face twisted in that instant due to extreme anger and agony.
Those bloodshot eyes glared fixedly at Nora's unfocused pupils, the hatred within so intense it seemed to materialize.
"Can your one 'I didn't know' wipe all of this away!"
Nora shook her head desperately, crying so hard she couldn't catch her breath.
"Those people were originally out to kill you!! The person who was supposed to die on the rooftop was you!!"
"Why wasn't it you who fell off the building? Why wasn't it you being tortured?!"
Gideon's voice was hoarse, carrying a bone-deep curse, echoing madly in the empty, dead silence of The Hayes Manor.
"Nora, tell me, why wasn't it you who died!!"

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
