The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 452

Sometimes, in the dead of night, she would think of Nathan.

He was the only one left in the Xavier family.

She didn't know if her impulsive, hot-headed brother had matured after suffering the double blow of losing his family and his sister, or if he was managing to survive out there in the world.

She fought back the urge to ask around for news about him.

The moment she plunged into the ocean, the Nora from the Metropolis had died.

Her death was the best closure she could give Nathan, and the most absolute way to sever all their past grievances.

She couldn't go back. She couldn't shatter the peaceful life he might have finally found.

“What are you thinking about? You're so spaced out.”

Anya hopped off her wicker chair and leaned in, waving a hand curiously in front of Nora's dazed face.

Snapping out of it, Nora offered a gentle smile and set her spray bottle down on the wooden counter. “Nothing. Just remembering something from a long time ago.”

“Alright, go take a break in the back! I'll handle all the wrapping and deliveries for the rest of the day!”

Without waiting for an answer, Anya snatched the pruning shears right out of Nora's hands and nudged her toward the back. “Your hands might be way better than when you first got here, but the doctor said you shouldn't grip hard objects for too long. If you overwork yourself, the angels up there are gonna scold me!”

Watching Anya's bustling, sweet fussiness, Nora shook her head helplessly, her eyes filled with warmth.

Because she had missed the optimal surgical window after breaking her bones years ago, her right hand was now stiff. Even holding a pen or a slightly heavy pair of scissors would trigger a wave of aching numbness through her joints.

She could never draw those world-stunning jewelry designs again. She could never do highly precise manual labor again.

But she didn't care about any of that anymore.

...

By evening, the coastal town had shed the scorching heat of the day.
