The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 453

“No need, Anya. I'm not really hungry tonight. I'll just heat up a bowl of soup.”

Nora replied warmly, “Take the fish home for yourself. Go get some rest.”

“Alright, I'll head out then. I'll go restock tomorrow morning, so you just sleep in. Don't open the shop until I get back. If there's anything heavy, don't try to lift it yourself—leave it for me!”

Listening to the girl's rapid-fire instructions, a serene, shallow smile graced Nora's lips.

“I know. Ride your bike carefully. Stay safe.”

Anya slung her canvas bag over her shoulder and pushed open the glass door. The vintage wind chimes hanging above jingled with a crisp, melodic ring as the door swung open and shut.

“See you tomorrow!”

Anya waved from the steps outside.

“See you.”

The glass door closed once more. Anya's figure blended into the evening foot traffic, slowly fading at the end of the street.

The flower shop fell completely silent.

Nora glanced around the room.

The potted plants were watered, and the fallen leaves on the floor had been swept clean.

Outside, the sky darkened at a visible pace. Streetlights flickered on one by one, their amber glow casting long shadows across the floorboards through the glass storefront.

Setting the damp towel down, Nora turned and walked toward the light switch by the door, ready to turn off the main lights.

*Ding-a-ling—*

The wind chime above the glass door suddenly let out a sharp, lingering ring.

The light in the shop instantly dimmed, leaving only the faint glow spilling in from the display window.

Hearing the chime, Nora didn't even look up. Her gaze remained fixed on the floral shears in her hand.

“Sorry, we're closed.”
