The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 456

A near-pathological obsession flickered in Gideon's eyes. He took a small step forward, reaching out a trembling right hand to touch her cheek.

His hand hovered in midair, his fingers curling slightly.

Seeing his hand reaching for her, Nora reacted as if she were looking at a venomous snake. She jerked backward until her spine was pressed flat against the cold storage cabinet again.

Looking at his deeply affectionate, agonizingly pained expression, she found it utterly absurd.

She let out a cold laugh. There was zero warmth in the sound—only endless mockery and dead silence.

“Sir, you really have the wrong person.”

She tilted her chin up, her eyes slicing into him like glacial ice.

“The Nora you're looking for jumped into the ocean in the Metropolis two years ago.”

Staring right into his eyes, she delivered the verdict, emphasizing every word without a shred of emotion. “She died a long time ago.”

“She's dead. Completely dead. The fish even ate her corpse. Don't you find it ridiculous to stand here and put on this lovesick act for a stranger who just happens to look like her?”

The hand he had suspended in the air froze violently.

His fingers spasmed, as if the words 'died a long time ago' had brutally impaled his heart.

His face turned an even more ghastly shade of pale in an instant. His breathing stopped, and the madness and agony in his eyes twisted together into a massive, suffocating vortex.

Yet, he stubbornly refused to pull his hand back.

Nora didn't want to look at his face anymore. Every passing second felt like the pain buried in her bone marrow was waking up.

“Get out.”

She pointed at the door, her voice rising, her eyes sharp as blades.

“Get out of my shop right now! I don't want to look at you! Get out!”

She issued the most direct eviction order, leaving absolutely zero room for negotiation.
