The Love I Begged For Was Never Real novel Chapter 457

Gideon walked toward the glass doors step by step. He reached out and pushed them open.

The evening breeze swept in again.

But he didn't step out immediately.

He stood at the threshold, slowly turning his head. His gaze cut through the dim shop to land on Nora once more.

He just stared at her, unmoving, for a full half-minute before finally releasing the door handle and stepping outside.

*Ding-a-ling—*

The wind chime let out one last crisp ring before falling silent.

Out on the cobblestone street, more than a dozen black bulletproof SUVs were already parked in a tight line.

Dozens of bodyguards in black suits formed an iron wall, locking down the entire street.

Gideon walked toward the stretched limo at the very front. A bodyguard respectfully pulled the door open for him.

Dead silence returned to the flower shop.

Nora stood frozen against the storage cabinet, maintaining her defensive posture. She looked like an ice sculpture, entirely drained of life.

It wasn't until she was absolutely sure he was gone that the strength holding her up vanished.

Her legs gave out. She slid weakly down the edge of the wooden cabinet, collapsing onto the cold concrete floor.

She wrapped her arms tightly around her knees, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Cold sweat soaked through her back, making her clothes cling uncomfortably to her skin.

She gasped for air, panting heavily like a fish out of water.

Her mind replayed everything that had just happened on an endless loop.

Those bloodshot eyes, that suffocating embrace around her waist, that trembling voice whispering *“I looked for you for two years,”* and that casual, chilling declaration of buying the entire street's property rights.

Absurd.
