By the time the physical therapy session ended, Nora looked as though she had been pulled from a lake, her clothes completely soaked in cold sweat.
Her heavily massaged hands were swollen and red, resting limply on the tabletop.
That afternoon.
The long dining table was lined with nutritious, light dishes and healing broths carefully curated by a nutritionist.
Nora sat in her chair, her arms hanging weakly by her sides.
Having just finished the intense massage, her fingers couldn't even manage the simplest bending motion, let alone hold silverware.
Gideon pulled out the chair beside her and sat down. He picked up the bowl of savory scallop broth in front of him, scooped up a spoonful with a white porcelain spoon, and blew softly to scatter the rising steam.
He offered the spoon to her lips.
"The temperature is perfect. Open up."
His tone was so gentle it held no edge whatsoever, and his movements were as practiced as if he had done this thousands of times.
Nora turned her head slightly, dodging the spoon.
Gideon's hand paused in mid-air. Showing zero signs of annoyance, he simply adjusted his wrist and accurately brought the spoon back to her lips.
"You burned through a lot of energy during physical therapy today. You have to eat something."
He sounded like he was coaxing a picky child, his voice laced with infinite indulgence. "Just one more bite. After you finish, I'll take you to the backyard to get some sun."
Nora stared at the white porcelain spoon.
A bitter ache churned in her chest.
Back in the day, she used to spin like a top in the kitchen of The Hayes Manor, exhaustively cooking all kinds of meals for him, just to earn the chance to eat at the same table.
But all she ever got was his icy dismissal: "Leave these things to the staff from now on."
He was always coming and going in a rush, never even sparing her a perfunctory glance.
Back then, she would cry by herself, desperately convincing her own heart that he was just too busy.
And now? He had abandoned the sprawling empire of Hayes Group to stay locked up in The Oceanside Villa all day, holding a bowl and patiently feeding her bite by bite.

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
