Gideon set the scissors on the table and took a deep breath, fighting to suppress the violent surge of regret and heartache churning in his chest.
"How has she been doing in this town these past two years?"
His voice was a little hoarse as he asked the question he was most desperate to have answered.
"Besides spacing out, what else does she like to do? What time does she go to sleep? Has she been eating on time?"
Seeing how detailed his questions were, Anya began to earnestly recall the past.
"Later on, Mrs. Chambers got sick and passed away, leaving the flower shop to Nora. That's when I came to help out. After she took over the shop, her life finally gained a little routine."
"Besides tending to the plants, her favorite thing to do is sit in that wicker chair by the window and read. She mostly reads books on horticulture and floral arrangements, and sometimes she flips through foreign art books."
"Nora opens the shop at eight every morning. For lunch, she often just settles for a few bites of bread. She hates rainy days. Whenever it rains, her hands hurt so much she can't sleep. She just sits in the back of the shop until dawn..."
Gideon listened intently, carving every word Anya said into his heart, desperately trying to piece together the two years of Nora's life he had missed.
"Did she go to the hospital regularly to have her hands checked?"
He continued to press.
Anya shook her head and sighed.
"The medical facilities in this town aren't great to begin with. We only have an old holistic healer and a small clinic. Nora went to pick up some herbal supplements for circulation a few times, bringing them back to brew and apply to her hands herself."
Gideon's heart violently seized.
In all those sleepless nights, she had endured that agony entirely alone.
"Nora used to forget to eat a lot. When she got busy, she just wouldn't bother. I heard that before Mrs. Chambers passed, she made Nora promise to take care of herself, which was the only reason she started forcing herself to eat three meals a day."

The readers' comments on the novel: The Love I Begged For Was Never Real
Storyline is good..but author is wasting time on character's thoughts.why r u streching chapters it's really really boring and annoying.conversation between them childish.she is only saying him get out n what right do u have ..not telling him what he did to her not questioning him..demanding answer. And what happened to him why sudden change of heart care to explain author.....
For the past few chapters either she is sick or he is. It is slightly boring. Author pls let them talk about the issues , she is not at all scolding him.. every scoldings are playing in her mind only. We want some talk between them....
I am also thinking the same....
Has he mistaken Nora as Giselle?...
What happened to him🤔 did he forget everything?...
Hey can u also upload the book " woke up married to my cheating ex"....
Does he know the orphan girl is actually Nora?...
So is he trying to justify everything? At wat rite??? Wer were he wen she needed him the most.......
Haha finally going to see redemption...
I don’t think reborn will happen in this novel. It will be full of her blood only. Actually The title should be changed to only Nora’s suffering instead the love I begged was never real....
