The Mafia King's Unknown Doctor Wife novel Chapter 233

Chapter 233

Elena stepped back and looked at the list she and Massimo had created. Every name was a possible suspect– someone who had the financial means, extra subordinates, or insider knowledge to help Tyler pull of his latest stunt. Elena didn’t like how quickly she and Massimo had finished this list.

With dozens of names, no less.

Massimo had, of course, immediately brought up that someone in the Ferraro’s inner circle would have had an easy time finding Gavino’s place and clearing it out. As a result, the don had rattled off a dozen of his own subordinatesnames before adding the generic servantsitem to the list.

But, like they had discussed earlier, a family’s money and man power was almost definitely involved here, too- and while Elena’s father might worship Tyler, that didn’t mean he suddenly had an influx of money or soldiers. Which meant a different family was also secretly a traitor.

Massimo had done his best to make allies in New York. As it stood, he could only list three or four families who still acted neutrally towards him. And though Elena dutifully wrote down their names, she wasn’t sure whether any of them had enough money or free time to be helping out Tyler.

Elena thought it was more likely that a new ally was more dangerous than they had judgedand judging by Massimo’s solemn expression, she wasn’t the only one who thought that.

Add the Grasso and Abano families to the list,Massimo said neutrally. There’s a chance the Grassos passed this off to one of their subordinate families, so we’ll need to keep an eye out for that two.

As Elena finished writing, she looked back up at Massimo. Is that it?she asked.

Massimo nodded. Elena placed the list between them, so that they could both more easily read it.

That’s a lot of suspects,Elena remarked. I’m not sure how we’ll even get through all of this.

Massimo frowned. Luca is on good terms with most of my subordinates, as well as the servants of the estate,he said thoughtfully. I can probably delegate those suspects to him.

It was Elena’s turn to frown. Was Massimo really expecting to tackle the rest of the list by himself? That would be beyond foolish, but Elena knew Massimo had few people he could trust with this sensitive mission.

I’m on good terms with Mrs Jill Grasso and Lucilla Abano, she remarked. I can make sure I attend more of the Grasso’s tea parties and anything else they might invite me to. That would be the easiest way to check their loyalties without anyone noticing something is up.

Massimo gritted his teeth. Don Grasso’s wife may be old, but she has plenty of subordinates at her estateand that’s not even mentioning how crafty the Abano women can be,Massimo stated. This could get very dangerous fast.

Isn’t everything in the mafia world like that?Elena shot back. And you know this is our best chance to see if they’re really our allied families without offending them in the process. No one is going to expect a tea party guest to be spying on them.

Finally, after a long moment, Massimo sighed. Fine,he relented. Just don’t do anything rash, Elena.

Elena nodded, smiling. At least she could take a few suspects off the listwhich meant Massimo had one less

thing to worry about. If only there was someone else who could help them.

We might need more help to get through this list still,Elena remarked. I know we can’t trust your smal subordinate, Massimo, but what is we asked Joshua Miller for help?

Massimo’s frown immediately grew. And why would we do that?
