The Mafia King's Unknown Doctor Wife novel Chapter 364

Massimo heard a car approach. He rushed to the windows, hoping that Elena had called a cab.

But he didn't see a cab. Instead, he saw a nondescript black van pull up next to a nearby telephone pole. Massimo frowned.

It didn't have any of the usual signage, but Massimo could recognize a repurposed FBI van when he saw one. It looked like the investigation into the Ferraro family had either just been approved or the FBI agents were moving early.

Massimo's eyes drifted up and down the street. He wondered how many of the parked vehicles could be discretely housing federal agents.

Right now, it didn't matter. The important fact was that Massimo knew he was definitely under surveillance now.

"As if I didn't have enough fucking problems already," Massimo cursed. He closed the window's blinds in one swift motion.

Elena knew the bus route well. It was trivial for her to get a ride back to her old apartment—she was used to navigating public transit during peak operation hours, though she hadn't used her skills in a while.

She knocked on Mr Fabio's door. "Sorry for coming by unannounced," she said, smiling shyly.

The old gentleman took one look at her tired expression, her borrowed clothes, and her somber attitude. Then he nodded to himself and opened the door. "It's always a pleasure to have a lady by, no matter the time or day," he said cheerily.

Mr Fabio quickly made a pot of coffee. "I can tell you need the stronger stuff today," he joked. "What's on your mind, dear?"

"I'm a little concerned about my relationship with Massimo," she said simply.

Mr Fabio only raised an eyebrow.

So Elena continued, "I like working with him, but I don't think I know him at all. And our relationship is a lot more... complicated than I first thought.

Mr Fabio flashed her a sympathetic smile. "I'm sorry for my part in complicating it," he said solemnly. "I could've made things much clearer for you two."

"I could've asked for your grandson's name," Elena mumbled into her coffee cup. She took a long sip. "And anyways, I think we both know Massimo and I didn't do ourselves any favors in that department."

"So what are you thinking of doing, dear?" Mr Fabio pressed.

"I don't know," Elena confessed. "I'm not sure if I know anything anymore. I just feel... very lost."

Luca told some boring story about sports and car problems. The FBI van outside was no doubt pissed that Massimo was taking such a long, useless call—if they had managed to get his phone tapped already.

But Massimo listened closely to Luca's encoded message. Tyler's plans involved storming the Ferraro estate in the next few months.

"That's enough," Massimo cut in. "You can tell me the rest later."

"Understood," Luca replied. "I'm heading over now—fuck."

"Luca?"

"Sorry," he said hurriedly. "There's just an odd vehicle parked outside. It wasn't here before."

Massimo's phone buzzed. Luca had sent him a picture. It was the same model as the black van sitting outside his estate—which meant that the FBI was outside Luca's location.

A location where Luca had just murdered several of Tyler's goons.
