Elena nodded. "Today's gonna be great, too!"
Cameron chatted with Noah on potential outing spots to show Elena. On the outside, Elena nodded along with great interest. On the inside though, she was nervous.
She's never spent time alone with Noah before! She trusts him because Sloane trusts him—and anyone with eyes can see that Noah adores Sloane. But Elena didn't know the man that well.
Honestly, she still wasn't sure if Noah liked her or if he was just indulging Sloane.
Meanwhile, in New York, Massimo had been strategizing with Luca. They still had the ongoing FBI investigation to worry about.
"It won't be easy," Massimo stated, "but I think I've come up with a plan. We'll use the Grasso and Abano families to be extra eyes around the state. We'll still use our own people, but those two families can help us find out what the FBI is actually up to and why."
"All without drawing attention to the Ferraro family," Luca observed. "We can use their resources to find out where the FBI is getting their information. After all, it's likely someone in the mafia."
"If it isn't several rats," Massimo remarked.
Massimo already had a decent work relationship with Don Grasso and his wife. Besides, Don Grasso was old enough that he would take a meeting with the Mafia King as a sign of respect—a meeting with the Mafia King's right hand wouldn't impress him.
While Massimo met with the Grassos, Luca worked with the Abanos. Unfortunately, Don Abano was away on business so Luca instead met with Lucilla Abano. It was no great loss as far as Massimo was concerned—Elena's friend was competent enough to handle this task.
Those meetings had happened days ago. In that time, Massimo had received plenty of reports from both families that pointed to some clear, conclusive evidence.
Capo Vitale was definitely talking to the FBI. The FBI agents visited a lot of areas around the Vitale's home yet never talked to the Capo once? That was more than a little suspicious considering how the FBI was stopping at every other mafia man's home—whether he knew it or not.
Plus, after the agents left Vitale territory, they always came back with a new tip on Massimo or the mafia at large. Massimo was sure Capo Vitale was a traitor.
But the information Vitale was providing the FBI wasn't his own. He gave away details that only the Martins and Diolis knew. With a little legwork from Lucilla and Luca, it was quickly discovered that some vassal families of the Martins and Diolis were regularly meeting with Capo Vitale.
Massimo had all the evidence he needed. And it was all thanks to the allies Elena had made sure Massimo secured.
