The Mafia King's Unknown Doctor Wife novel Chapter 385

"Did you hear that?" one man asked. "It sounded like it came from here."

"Isn't that room supposed to be locked?" another asked.

Massimo heard three sets of rapidly approaching footsteps. They couldn't enter this room. Otherwise, Massimo would be screwed.

He'd get arrested. He'd doom the mafia. And he'd never see Elena again.

A Ferraro doesn't tolerate failure—Fabio had drilled that lesson into Massimo's head at a young age. So Massimo adapted. Anything was better than failure.

Massimo pulled a cable out from a nearby computer. He tied the door knob to one end and the other to the closest and heaviest looking server he saw.

It wasn't an elegant solution, but now the door was jammed. The security guards tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. Massimo stayed as quiet as the men outside grumbled.

"Do you think the lock's broken?"

"Maybe. We'll have to call someone down here to take a look."

"I got it. You two can keep trying—I'll see if anyone upstairs can help."

Massimo frowned. This was bad. The other guards weren't leaving!

His simple door jamming trick wouldn't hold up forever. He glanced at his watch and nearly swore. It turns out he had severely underestimated how much time this operation would take.

No wonder Luca had been rushing him and warning about the day shift. The precinct was about to officially open back up. Sure, not every cop would rush to work, but he and Luca couldn't plan for every cops' arrival.

There were too many variables. If Massimo stayed past the precinct's official starting hour, he'd been screwed.

Massimo tried to think of what to do to escape, but he kept coming up blank.

"Massimo," Luca suddenly spoke up, "please don't tell me you're still in the server room."

"There's two guards outside," Massimo whispered. "I have the door jammed, but it won't hold forever."
