Chapter 89
Massimo ran into the Sunshine Complex apartment building as Luca parked the car. He strode impatiently to the front desk and took out two pictures–photos he had printed less than five days ago to make his search a little
easier.
“Have you seen either of these two women? They should have been by here in the last week?” Massimo asked.
The receptionist looked carefully at the photos shoved in her face. But she she shook her head. “No, I haven’t-”
“Do you have any cameras on the property?”
“Excuse me?”
“You heard what I asked,” Massimo growled.
The woman frowned. “No, we don’t.”
“So there’s no way to confirm or deny your story then.”
“Sir, I would never lie-”
“This building was recently bought by Tyler Morello, was it not? That already ruins whatever good name your company may have had.”
At that moment, Luca arrived at the front desk. He quickly took over talking to the employee.
Fine by Massimo. He was sick of wasting time. Elena and Aria had been missing for days.
And it looked almost certain Tyler was behind it all. Massimo ground his teeth. Elena had already gone through the torments of playing Russian Roulette for Massimo’s sake–why was Tyler insisting on making her suffer?
“Our tech hasn’t spotted any hidden cameras on the property,” Luca finally told his boss. “I don’t see any obvious tells in the staff’s demeanor–I think the receptionist is an honest citizen,”
“Did I ask for your opinion?” Massimo gritted out. “Get the rest of our men here. I want them searching the streets -another company’s security cameras or maybe traffic lights could’ve spotted them.”
Luca didn’t say anything, but Massimo knew his second–in–command well enough to know what he was thinking. Luca obviously thought Massimo needed to keep a cool head–maybe even get some rest.
But his people were missing. Two of his most vulnerable people. While Massimo held no love for Aria, he didn’t need her dying for him either–his grandfather would never let Massimo know peace if he did.
And then there was Elena. The most competent woman Massimo met. The woman he loved.
Of course Massimo couldn’t stay fully calm. But he could do his best to stay rational,
“It will take a while for them to get here,” Luca explained patiently. “And going through all that much data won’t yield fast results. I’ll check that Kyle and Eric are… questioned thoroughly until we can verify their claims.”
“Do it,” Massimo said.
Massimo marched back to the receptionist. Ignoring her protests, he went behind her desk and grabbed her set of master keys.
“Sir?” Luca called hesitantly.

“You have your tasks, Luca,” Massimo dismissed. “I’ll manually search the apartments until one of us gets some damn results.”
Elena figured it had been at most a day since Tyler’s last visit. She was surprised he waited so long to use the apartment’s speakers.
“Good morning, my dear lamb,” Tyler’s voice echoed. “I’ve decided we can make your stay here a little more fun- more engaging.”
“I’m fine,” Elena lied through her teeth. She might be tired and scared, but she still wasn’t foolish enough to trust the renowned liar and back–stabber.
