So this was her mystery husband! He had actually come to see her!

Elena eagerly hugged him. “I’m so happy you’re here.”

“So am I,” Tyler replied evenly.

He easily picked up Elena by her waist and carried her onto the white sofa. He sat Elena down there, fixing her position like she was a doll. Elena stayed still with a smile.

“Tell me I’m handsome,” Tyler said, caressing her cheek.

“You’re very handsome, my dearest husband,” Elena repeated.

“Give me a kiss then.”

Elena finally moved, leaning into her husband’s space. She pressed a chaste kiss to his cheek.

Tyler pulled out a bag–had he always been holding it? He shook it in front of Elena.

“I brought you new clothes,” her husband explained.

“That’s very kind of you,” Elena said. “Thank you.”

“So let’s get you out of those old things.‘

Elena stripped down to her undergarments. A chill went through her, but she tried not to let it show.

Her husband was here. He was finally here.

Her husband… Why did this scene feel so familiar to her?

Her husband wrapped his hands around her waist.

“How do you… how are you so good at dating?” Elena remembered asking someone that question, but not the context. She recalled jealousy burning in her chest.

Her husband pulled Elena onto his lap. Her hands obediently fell to her side. She barely changed her gaze so she wouldn’t have to stare at the ceiling lights.

She remembered the glare of her phone screen. Painstakingly taking pictures specifically to provoke. Getting no

response.

Her husband slide his hands along Elena’s thighs. He grinned like a tomcat.

No, not like a cat. Like a snake—the same snake grin Elena had seen far too many times.

A rush of adrenaline hit Elena as she regained her senses. She hurriedly pushed Tyler away and stood up- jumping backwards and further away from her captor.

“Get away from me!” Elena shouted.

Tyler’s grin fell, replaced with a grimace. “You’re really too stubborn for your own good.”

Tyler harshly grabbed Elena. She tried to elbow him, but her body was too weakened from her drugged state. Though she had regained her senses, the rest of her body was still too sluggish.

Tyler easily held Elena from behind. His hands harshly clamped onto her upper torso, barely below her bra.
