The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 111

Audrey closed her eyes, letting the silence stretch before she spoke. "When I needed Joaquin the most, I called him, but I couldn't get through."

It was time to end this ridiculous marriage once and for all.

Outside the private dining room, Joaquin felt an invisible hand squeeze his heart. His grip on the doorknob tightened. In the past, he might have barged in, confronted her, and explained he'd been called away on an urgent business trip.

But looking at the dull, lifeless expression in Audrey’s eyes through the crack in the door, and hearing the utter despair in her voice... the door suddenly felt like it weighed a ton. He couldn't push it open.

She was right. When she was caught in the eye of the storm today, he hadn't been there. The rumors had festered and exploded online, and he hadn't found out until ten hours later. He was a terrible husband.

If it hadn't been for Miles Foster stepping up, the public execution of Audrey as a homewrecker would still be going on. He hadn't expected everything to fall apart so spectacularly just because he went out of town.

"Sir, are you going in?" a waiter asked quietly, approaching with a pitcher of water.

Joaquin stepped back to let him pass. "No. And don't tell them I was here." He turned on his heel and strode away.

The waiter frowned, confused, before pushing the door open. After pouring the water, he hesitated but eventually mentioned the suspicious man lingering outside their door.

Audrey and Bianca exchanged uneasy glances. Based on the waiter's description, was the man... Miles? Had he heard everything?

...

Walking out of the Marine Kitchen, Joaquin instructed Felix Foster to arrange a security detail for the three women. Then, he went straight to Chase Snow.
