The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 116

Audrey hesitated for a second before finally following him out the door.

"Joaquin..." Rainey's frail voice called out just as they reached the hallway.

Joaquin paused and looked back. "Give me ten minutes. Be good."

Satisfied that he was still catering to her, Rainey pouted slightly. "Make sure you bring me a lemonade when you come back."

He gave a curt nod and led Audrey outside.

With them gone, only Rainey and Nora remained in the lounge.

"I never pegged the brilliant head writer of this project as someone who enjoys acting as Audrey's lapdog," Rainey sneered, instantly dropping the delicate flower act. She shot Nora a look of pure condescension. "What kind of future do you have following her? You'd be much better off getting on my good side. Write a few standout roles for me, and I'll take care of you."

Nora hadn't planned on engaging, but the sheer audacity was too much. She let out a dry laugh. "Given how 'sick' you are, even if I wrote a script for you, would you live long enough to actually film it?"

Rainey smiled, a cold, predatory look in her eyes. "Didn't she tell you? I have leukemia. And her bone marrow is a perfect match. The only reason Joaquin is making her life hell and leaving her to get slaughtered online is because she's refusing to donate."

She took a step closer to Nora, her tone turning sinister. "I know you're loyal to her. But let me give you a reality check. Once she gives me her bone marrow, even if she somehow miraculously avoids a fatal post-op infection, her health is going to crash. She'll be bedridden for good. Meanwhile, I'll get a fresh start and a long, glorious life."

She glared at Nora, the warning clear. "You'd be smart to hitch your wagon to me. When I'm an A-lister, I'll make sure you're well compensated."
