The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 117

Audrey let out a harsh, silent laugh.

Happy? Did he honestly think being publicly eviscerated made her happy?

She looked at him, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "Why the sudden concern? Does Rainey know you're checking up on me? Won't she throw a fit?"

Joaquin's eyes darkened instantly. "Is it a crime for me to care?"

She sat down on the bench opposite him, her eyes burning with sarcasm. "Where was all this concern when millions of people were calling me a homewrecker yesterday? Were you afraid that if you helped me, your precious Miss Rainey would be upset? Or were you just terrified that our marriage would be exposed, and everyone would realize she's the actual homewrecker?"

Joaquin frowned deeply. "I was away on business..."

"I know." Audrey waved her phone in the air. "I saw the headlines. Mr. Judd, out of his profound love for Miss Rainey, flew ten hours to Australia and immediately turned around and flew ten hours back. Straight to her bedside."

She gave him a sickly sweet smile. "What an epic romance. Since you two clearly can't hide your undying love anymore, when are we signing the divorce papers? Every day we stay married is another day she risks being outed as the other woman. You wouldn't want to ruin her, would you?"

Joaquin narrowed his eyes, a faint smirk playing on his lips. This was the first time he had seen her like this—sharp-tongued, relentless, and cutting. The quiet, obedient, and honestly somewhat boring woman he thought he married was suddenly armed to the teeth.

She was a hell of a lot more interesting than he'd realized.

The amusement in his eyes just confused and infuriated Audrey even more. What was wrong with him? She was tearing into him, and he was smiling?

She took a deep breath, reining in her temper. "Joaquin, when are we getting a divorce?"
