"Shouldn't we intervene?" Wendell asked nervously, eyeing Felix. "That's Joaquin's wife. If she gets beaten up while we just stand here watching, he is going to be pissed. Are we seriously not doing anything?"
"Why would we do anything?" Felix replied, his eyes glued to the elevator numbers slowly ticking up to 16. "We wouldn't want to steal someone's chance to play the hero, would we?"
Joaquin had just texted that he was in the lobby. The timing was going to be cinematic.
"But..." Wendell grimaced, pointing down the hall. Harold had already wound his arm back, preparing to deliver a devastating backhand to Audrey's face!
"AGHHH!"
Before Wendell could finish his thought, an agonizing shriek ripped through the corridor. Everyone jumped, snapping their heads toward the chaos.
Defying all expectations, Harold—who had been a millisecond away from striking Audrey—was now curled in the fetal position on the marble floor, clutching his crotch and wailing in agony.
Audrey, still firmly restrained by two security guards, tilted her head and offered Zeller a mocking smile. "You told them to hold my arms. Did you forget I have legs?"
Zeller's face turned an ugly shade of purple. He had worked at the Dynasty Hotel for over a decade and had never encountered a woman this brazen.
"Do you have any idea who his powerful friends are?" he snarled. "You are going to regret this!"
He quickly knelt down, fawning over the groaning man. "Mr. Hunter, are you alright?"
Harold was dripping with sweat. He pointed a trembling finger at Audrey, his voice cracking from the blinding pain. "You crazy bitch! I'll kill you!"
Audrey smirked, her eyes brimming with contempt. "A piece of trash like you wants to kill me?"
"Audrey..." Nora whispered, watching the scene unfold with mounting dread. "I know you know how to fight, but there are too many of them. It's just the two of us, and I'm completely useless... Should we just apologize?"
She had thought the initial beatdown was the climax, but Audrey had just kicked the man in the groin while being restrained. They had pushed these men past the point of no return.
"Don't be afraid," Audrey replied easily. She glanced at the clock on the wall, her lips curving upward. "My backup is on the way."
