"Well..." Julian stammered, sweating profusely. "Our crew is—"
"Is there a rule stating that a PA isn't allowed to care about the story?" Miles stood up, his voice effortlessly commanding as he smiled at the crowd. "Isn't a PA a vital part of the production team?"
Julian stared at the man standing next to Audrey. He was strikingly handsome and exuded pure, undeniable authority. Despite his slight limp, the man carried an air of aristocratic coldness that screamed high society. Julian instantly assumed this had to be Audrey's mysterious, wealthy husband.
"You're absolutely right!" Julian nodded enthusiastically. "Your wife may be a PA, but she's part of the team, and she has every right to discuss the script!"
The room fell dead silent.
Joaquin leaned back in his chair, his long fingers drumming a slow, menacing beat against the table. "Who told you they were husband and wife?" he asked, his voice lethally soft.
Julian froze, suddenly feeling very small. "Are they... not?"
The man had shown up first thing in the morning with a massive bouquet of red roses and hadn't left Audrey's side once. If he wasn't her husband, who was he?
Rainey let out a tinkling laugh. "Director Chandler has been in this industry a long time, he usually has a great eye for these things."
She looked at Audrey and Miles with a pitying sneer. "Did you two do something... intimate, to give the director the wrong idea?"
The oppressive aura radiating from Joaquin grew infinitely darker. His icy eyes locked onto Audrey, practically shooting daggers at her. "Getting cozy with another man in public... Do you even remember that you have a husband?"
