The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 59

Joaquin narrowed his eyes, studying Audrey in silence. But the icy glare in his gaze only sharpened.

"Then invite him!" Leona sneered, taking Audrey's bluff. "We'd love for you to call your husband down here! Let him see exactly how his wife behaves with other—"

"Enough!" Joaquin's voice cracked like a whip, cutting her off instantly. "Is it your turn to speak?"

The rest of Leona's insult died in her throat. She stood frozen, looking at Rainey in utter bewilderment. "Rainey..."

Rainey knew perfectly well that if Audrey's marriage to Joaquin was exposed right now, Rainey herself would be burned at the stake by the press. She shot Leona a vicious glare. "Shut your mouth."

Publicly reprimanded by both Joaquin and her own client, Leona stood wide-eyed, completely clueless as to what she had done wrong.

"Alright, alright," Julian hurried in to smooth things over. "Today is about our new film! Let's not get bogged down in our crew's personal lives. Moving on to the next segment..."

Joaquin didn't hear a single word of Julian's wrap-up. His eyes were glued to Audrey. After sitting back down, she accepted a glass of juice from Miles, chatting easily with him as if the entire explosive confrontation on stage hadn't even happened. The effortless, comfortable dynamic between the two of them felt like a needle driving straight into Joaquin's chest. It was impossible to ignore.

"And that concludes our kickoff press conference!" Julian announced with a bright smile. "Next up..."

Joaquin snapped out of his daze. "We're done?"

Julian paused mid-sentence, nodding deferentially. "Yes, Mr. Judd. We've gone through the entire itinerary. It's time to wrap up."

Truthfully, Julian had a few more promotional stunts planned. But after the disastrous drama, he just wanted everyone out of the room.
