The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 62

Late that afternoon, Chase knocked and entered the office, placing a premium box on the desk. "Sir, the staff at the manor sent this over. It's a shipment of imported cherries. Mr. Silas Judd remembered that your wife loves them and had them specially prepared for her. He also wanted to remind you that his eightieth birthday gala is in five days. He insists you bring her along. He mentioned he misses her terribly since he hasn't seen her in a while."

Joaquin's fingers froze over his keyboard. "Audrey hasn't been to see my grandfather lately?"

Chase lowered his gaze. "The staff mentioned she hasn't visited the estate in over two weeks."

Joaquin's eyes narrowed. For the past year of their marriage, Audrey had practically lived at his grandfather's side on weekends, drinking coffee, playing chess, and tending to the gardens.

At first, she had begged Joaquin to come along, but as her bond with the old man deepened, she stopped asking. Still, her weekly visits had been an absolute certainty.

He couldn't believe that just because they were fighting, she would ice out his grandfather too. Frowning, he grabbed his phone and dialed her number.

The line remained dead for a second before a cold automated voice echoed: "Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently busy."

He hung up and tried again. Same response.

His frown deepened into a harsh scowl. Who on earth was she talking to that she couldn't even spare a second to take his call?

"Sir..." Chase murmured cautiously as his boss dialed for the fifth time. "It appears... your wife has blocked your number."

Joaquin's hand stalled. His eyes turned dangerously cold. He opened his messaging app and typed out a quick text: [You blocked my number?]

A red exclamation point immediately popped up alongside a system notification: [You are not friends with this user.]

"Blocked there, too," Chase noted quietly.
