The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 61

Audrey had barely settled into her apartment when Bianca came storming through the door. "Damn it! Do you know what the hottest trending video is today?" she raged, pacing the room. "It's the clip of Joaquin getting you that role on set. The entire internet is practically worshiping him, saying that even though he's a billionaire, he's so grounded and compassionate, championing equality by letting a lowly production assistant play a role she wrote for herself."

Bianca gritted her teeth, her eyes blazing. "If I hadn't been sitting right next to you while you wrote that script, I might have actually believed their garbage! His move was so incredibly toxic. He gets to look like a modern-day saint while simultaneously serving you up on a silver platter for Rainey to torture, cornering you so you can't even complain about it!"

Her fury peaked as she crushed her paper cup, mangling it in her fist. "Audrey, you need to finalize this divorce right now. The thought of your name sitting next to his on a marriage license makes my blood boil!"

Audrey leaned her head back against the sofa, her eyes fluttering shut in exhaustion. "Relax. I threatened them today. He won't drag this marriage out much longer, if only to protect Rainey's precious career in the entertainment industry."

Hearing this only made Bianca's heart ache more. "He is such a bastard! Stalling the divorce while parading around with Rainey for everyone to see. If he wasn't so powerful, I would have punched him in the face by now!"

Audrey let out a soft, tired laugh. "Let it go. He's not worth the energy. As for acting opposite Rainey... I'll just treat it as a test of endurance."

...

Meanwhile, outside St. Jude's Medical Center.

Rainey stepped out of the luxury car and immediately wrapped her arms around Joaquin's, resting her head against him.

"Thank you so much," she murmured, her voice sweet and fragile. "If it weren't for you, I never would have landed this tailor-made role, and I certainly wouldn't have gotten the chance to act alongside Audrey."
