The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 82

The sharp edge of the script scraped against Rainey's cheek. Instantly, her eyes reddened, and tears began to spill down her face. "That scene... I improvised it."

She bit her lip, looking at Audrey with wide, innocent eyes. "Based on my understanding of Vivienne Snow, she would absolutely despise someone like Wendy, a low-class, uneducated nobody from the slums. Women like that should scurry back to where they came from; they have no business being an eyesore in the world of the wealthy. So, to give Vivienne's character more depth, I added that in..."

Though she was crying, the look in Rainey's eyes was pure, unadulterated provocation. It was blatantly obvious that the "low-class nobody who should scurry back" wasn't Wendy. It was Audrey.

Audrey narrowed her eyes. "Actors aren't allowed to change the script without permission. Didn't you know that?"

"Exactly!" Nora immediately chimed in. "And you changed it into a scene where you physically abuse someone! You did this on purpose! You were just looking for an excuse to bully Audrey!"

"I didn't..." Rainey looked utterly victimized. "I was only thinking about what was best for the movie. I just wanted to make Vivienne a more three-dimensional character..."

She turned a pitiful, trembling gaze back to Audrey. "Do you really think I'd do that to you?"

As she spoke, she snatched a fresh, steaming cup of coffee that her agent had just brought over and shoved it into Audrey's hands. "If you really think I was targeting you, then hit me back. Throw this at me. Okay?"

Audrey stared at Rainey's nauseatingly fake expression and smiled. "You think I won't?"

She raised her hand, aiming a vicious slap at Rainey's perfectly contoured face—

"Stop right there!"
