The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 84

A heavy silence fell over the set. Joaquin froze, instinctively looking down at the woman clinging to him. "You threw hot coffee in her face?"

Rainey frantically lowered her gaze. "The script didn't explicitly say to throw a drink or call her a nobody..."

She bit her lip, sounding heartbreakingly fragile. "But I was just trying to build the character! Vivienne is the kind of person who would absolutely do something like that, so I..."

"So you used 'acting' as an excuse to deliberately abuse and humiliate me on camera?" Audrey interrupted with a sneer. "The screenwriter wrote out exactly what you needed to do, yet you decided to 'improvise' without telling anyone and specifically chose to throw scalding hot coffee at my face!"

Audrey turned her icy gaze to the props department head. "Was that drink one of our props?"

The props master was already terrified by the drama unfolding. Hearing his name, he immediately scrambled to clear himself. "No! Absolutely not! All our props are prepared strictly according to the script. There's no drink-throwing scene, so we wouldn't have prepped anything like that!"

Audrey smirked and looked at the production assistants. "Then did you guys prepare it?"

The PAs shook their heads vigorously. "In this heat? Even if we got drinks for the cast, it would be ice water or cold sodas. Who would brew boiling hot coffee in this weather?"

Audrey's smile turned razor-sharp. "Hear that? Who goes out of their way to prepare scalding hot coffee on a sweltering day? Even if it were a real prop, we'd use lukewarm water for the actor's safety."

She looked mockingly at Rainey. "You really put a lot of thought into that cup of coffee, didn't you, Ms. Sinclair?"

Rainey's face turned pale, her eyes darting nervously. "I... I just wanted to deliver the best performance possible... to make Vivienne more three-dimensional..."

"Character building should at least follow the script, shouldn't it?" Audrey picked up the script and hurled it right at Rainey's chest. "Where in these pages does it say Wendy is an uneducated nobody? When you were screaming that low-class trash should scurry back to where they came from... were you insulting Wendy, or were you insulting me?"
