Beatrice and Arthur's faces turned ashen. They exchanged a panicked glance before Beatrice narrowed her eyes, feigning disdain. "You expect us to believe you record your phone calls?"
Audrey raised a brow. "If you don't believe me, I'd be happy to play it right now."
She moved her thumb toward the play button on the screen.
"Wait!" Arthur broke into a cold sweat and shouted. "It's just a photo! Fine, take it!"
If Audrey actually played that recording, the fact that he and his wife had teamed up to lay a malicious trap for their niece would become the laughingstock of high society. They couldn't afford that kind of humiliation!
Arthur shot a furious look at Beatrice. "Give her the damn photo and tell her to get out!"
Beatrice glared at Audrey, then whispered an order to a nearby maid.
A few minutes later, the maid returned holding a dust-covered picture frame. As she handed it to Beatrice, a cloud of dust puffed into the air, making Beatrice cough.
Disgusted, Beatrice pinched the edge of the frame with two fingers—and deliberately let it slip.
*Crash!*
The frame hit the marble floor. The wood splintered, and the glass shattered into a hundred jagged pieces. Dust exploded upward, scattering everywhere.
"Ah! Gross!"
