The Moment I Realized I Can't Lose You novel Chapter 90

Hearing Joaquin's voice, Rainey gasped, acting as if she had just noticed Audrey's condition. "Audrey! Oh my god, what happened? Why are you covered in dirt? Why are your hands bleeding?!"

Audrey glared at Rainey's exaggerated, wide-eyed shock. "Shouldn't you know exactly how I got this way?"

Rainey froze for a second before her eyes immediately filled with tears. She grabbed Joaquin's arm, her voice trembling. "Joaquin, I told you! I told you we shouldn't let Audrey film that scene with me, I knew she would hold it against me! But you said it was fine, that if she wanted to be an actress she had to get used to taking a hit..."

She bit her lip, looking heartbroken. "I tried to apologize to her on set, but you told me I didn't have to. And look! She really does hate me now!"

She was weeping so convincingly it was almost a masterclass.

Joaquin frowned and grabbed Audrey's wrist. "Audrey, the incident on set is over. Are you really going to keep throwing a tantrum?"

"I'm the one throwing a tantrum? Me?!" Audrey let out a bitter laugh. "She slapped me across the face in front of the entire crew, threw scalding coffee on me, and tried to force me to strip! As if that wasn't enough, she had my aunt and uncle use my dead parents' photo to lure me here without telling me there was a party."

"And while I was waiting for a cab, she had her agent drive through a puddle to splash mud all over me!"

"I walked into this house just to get a picture of my parents, only to be mocked, ridiculed, and humiliated by everyone in this room!"

She took a deep breath, staring coldly into Joaquin's eyes. "I don't have a gown, my makeup isn't done, and my face is battered. I won't ruin your lovely evening anymore. Goodbye."

Audrey yanked her hand free and turned to leave.

"Audrey!"

Before she could take a step, her wrist was grabbed again.
