Chapter 103
With fear gripping me, I rushed to look for Liora.
I need to keep her and our baby safe from harm.
Despite being in exile, Kaia is still trying to hurt Liora and our baby. She’s beyond vile; she’s a monster.
I searched everywhere for Liora. I had to make sure she’s safe.
My heart was thundering again in my chest when I couldn’t find her for the first fifteen minutes.
Finally, I spotted her in the garden plucking roses.
I ran up to her with my heart still beating fast.
“Are you okay, Liora?” I asked, looking her all over. “Did you get hurt anywhere?”
Liora looked at me with confusion, and I couldn’t bring myself to tell her why I was acting this way.

“Slow down, Draven” Liora held my hand while her other hand held a rose she plucked. “I’m fine, what’s going on?”
I breathed easily, letting out all the tension I had held on to.
“It’s nothing, I was just worried”, I mouthed, looking around. I was afraid Kaia’s spies were lurking around, waiting for a chance to hurt her.
“Worried? About what?” Liora narrowed her eyes.
“It’s nothing, let’s go back inside, it’s too early for gardening,” I said, urging her to leave. “Moreover, you haven’t had anything to eat yet”
I will have a few of my trusted security personnel watch over Liora from the shadows.
I can’t risk her and our baby’s life; they mean the world to me.
“Are you still angry with me, Draven?” Liora looked at me with her drooping lashes, and my heart melted.
“This is not the right place and time to talk about this, Liora. Let’s go?” I said, and took her hand, leading her away.
When we returned, the omegas set the table and served us our breakfast.
Throughout the meal, Liora kept stopping to look at me. She wanted to say something, but held back because she didn’t know how I would react.
“Say what’s on your mind,” I leisurely said when I caught her staring at me one more time. “Just let it all out”
Liora dropped her cutlery, and she looked at me with her charming, irresistible eyes that made me weak in the knees.
She’s a stunner, an absolute beauty.
There was no denying how beautiful Liora was; you can’t blame me for falling for a stunning woman like her.
“Look, Draven,” Liora cleared her throat. “There is nothing I can say to convince you that I did what I did for us, for the pack and its people. It’s one of those decisions I made on impulse. And this time, it put everyone, including our unborn baby, at
risk”
Her eyes dropped to her thigh. I couldn’t see what she was staring at, but I believe she was looking away to avoid my eyes.

“You are right, I should have told you about it immediately, but I took so long and didn’t think to tell you until you found out by yourself” Liora’s voice cracked. “I broke the trust you had in me, and I’m sorry for that. I feel terrible for what I had done, I’m sorry, truly”
Tears streamed down her throat, and she let them. She didn’t look away nor try to stop her tears from falling.
Seeing her like that, my heart broke into a million pieces.
I stood up and went to her. I wiped her tears with my thumb.
“Stop crying, baby,” I said, kissing her neck where my mark was. “You did nothing wrong. I was at fault for overreacting and not hearing you out first. You were only trying to help the pack”
Liora reached out a hand and held one of my hands resting on her shoulder.
Then, she leaned backwards and stared into my eyes.
Her eyes were mesmerising and enchanting. I was getting drowned in them, and I didn’t want to be saved.
I kissed her lips, neck amd knuckles.
I really wasn’t angry with her anymore; I can’t be angry with her for more than a few hours.
“I’m really sorry, Draven”, Liora muttered after I returned to my seat. “I didn’t mean to put you in a difficult position. Please forgive me”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it, I scooped out a fruit bowl for her. “It’s not entirely your fault.”
“How are you going to fix this now?” She asked, she looked genuinely concerned, and my heart went out to her because I accused her of harbouring self-interest earlier. “I put you and our pack in a tricky situation. This is awful, just thinking about the pack potentially going to a battlefield because of what I did”
“I’m working on it. I will figure out something soon. For now, eat your breakfast, our baby must be so hungry,” I said, trying to switch topics. “Right, baby? You are hungry, aren’t you?!”
I went to Liora and kissed her bump, she ruffled my hair and laughed while I playfully chatted with our little one.
“Come fast, baby, daddy can’t wait to hold you soon”, I said, and she smiled.
“Don’t worry, our baby will be born soon”, Liora muttered, and I kissed her sweet-lips.
After breakfast, I went to the office. I needed to come up with a plan as soon as possible to stop the alliance from forming.
I was lost in my thoughts when a knock came on the door, and my beta, Rowan, entered.
“Alpha, I traced the letter and seal,” he mentioned and lowered his head nervously. “I’m afraid it’s real”
“Yes, I know”, I replied casually, and he looked at me sharply, surprised.
“What are you saying?” He asked.
“Were you right?” I answered and turned around to face him. I had my back to him all this time. “Didn’t you say someone might have signed the decree with my seal? Turns out you were right”
“What?” He exclaimed, clearly shocked. “Who could have done that?”
“Liora,” I said. “She thought she was helping us, but she woefully fell into the alpha lord’s trap”
“This is bad, Draven,” Rowan said, shaking his head. “What are we going to do?”

“For now, this stays between us”, I said, and Rowan nodded. “I will ask Theo for his help in getting out of this. He might be able to help”
“That’s a good idea, I will get in contact with a few people and find a loophole too,” Rowan suggested, and I nodded in agreement.
Rowan got to work and left me alone in the office.
I paced around for a while until I mustered the courage to call Theo.
I’m an alpha; there is no reason to be afraid. The worst he would say is no.
After two rings, he picked up.
“Draven, to what do I owe this pleasant surprise?” Theo said with excitement the moment he picked up.
“I’m sorry I didn’t call to check if you got home safely. I got caught up in a mess, and it’s been messing with my sanity for days”, I explained, and Theo listened attentively.
“Mess? What kind of mess did you get yourself into?” He asked, and I breathed.
This was my chance to tell him everything and seek his help.
“It’s the alpha lord,” I began, my voice almost cracking. “He had been forcing me to align with him to fight against the Nightshade pack for territories. He has ambitions, and he wants to rule the biggest pack in our world”
“I didn’t want to align with him; he kept sending emails and letters to force my hand. But after an investigation, I found that everything he told me was a lie. I was going to refuse him, but before I could do that, he outsmarted me”
“When I was in the bush hunting for meat, he sent over a threatening letter with a decree and convinced my Luna to sign it with my seal. Now, I’m afraid he would force my pack and me into a battlefield to fight for his greedy ambitions”
My eyes were biting with tears and annoyance at this point.
I wanted nothing more than to rip out the throat of the alpha lord and feed it to the wild dogs.
Frustration was slowly burning up; everything was happening too fast.
“I had no idea what the alpha lord has been up to lately,” Theo said. “Maybe his reign only extends to the north alone”
“The north is his stronghold, he holds absolute power here, and anyone who goes against him will live to regret it”, I explained, and Theo was bewildered.
“I’m here, don’t worry, the alpha lord will not do anything to you or the pack.” Theo assuringly said. “Moreover, you seem to be forgetting that the alliance cannot be formed with my consent. I’m your ally, a partner in your affair. According to our agreement, the two of us have to sign every document with our seal for it to hold weight”
When he said that, a blindfold peeled away from my eyes, and I finally realised I had nothing to worry about.
“I will make sure the alpha lord knows he cannot threaten or force you and Silvermoon to join him”, Theo said.
“I didn’t think of this,” I said, my heart rippling with joy. “I knew it was a good idea to call you about this. Thank you”
“That’s alright,” Theo said. “I will get in touch with a few people. If you face any further problems, don’t hesitate to let me know. Afterall, we are partners and allies now, we should help each other”
“Absolutely, we should!” I eagerly said.
“Alright then, I have to go,” he said before ending the call.

That old bastard James Vance was trying to lead my pack to doom; I will get revenge on him for this.
He was the reason Liora and I had a big fight. I will get him back somehow.
I went outside to get some fresh air. I had been cooking up a solution to this problem.
I should have called Theo earlier; either way, better late than never.
I took out my packet of cigarettes, took one out, lit it, and took a long drag.
I blew out the smoke playfully, my heart content with how the day had played out in my favour.
I needed the smoke, and I’m glad I had a packet on me.
After everything that happened today, I had to do something to make it up to Liora and cheer her up.
I took out my phone and made a candlelight dinner reservation at a restaurant.
She deserves it, and I’m going to do everything I can to earn her forgiveness.
She’s not like Kaia; she’s a good person, a good Luna who puts the pack first.
And for that, I will reward her.
